The SpaceX supply chain department is a critical player in our operations. To capitalize on SpaceX’s technological and market-changing successes, the Sourcing Manager will be part of managing an agile, yet robust, supply chain that will enable a competitive advantage for SpaceX. SpaceX's supply chain will play a key role in enabling SpaceX to meet these ambitious growth targets and greatly contribute to making humans a multi-planetary species.RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage implementation and development of construction and build strategies to reduce risk and meet targets for the purchasing department, including, but not limited to, payment terms, cash targets, and cost savingsConduct comprehensive supplier analysis to formulate a strategic sourcing plan that identifies new/suitable suppliers, optimizes cost models, and proactively ensures continuity of supply based on upcoming new product introduction campaign requirementsManage the supply base by continuously improving a precise supplier selection model and documenting purchase order award strategy on a commodity-by-commodity basisEnsure the health of the supply base by evaluating and selecting suppliers based on capability, quality, reliability, and price competitivenessDirect and execute initiatives that support aggressive improvements in supplier quality, total cost effectiveness, enhanced service levels, improved coordination, delivery, pricing, lead-times, payment, risk compliance, and other areas as identifiedBenchmark, track, and analyze annual performance metrics and sourcing trends against budget monthly to demonstrate continuous improvement and progress against strategic objectivesDevelop strong relationships with internal stakeholders, understanding their needs and consulting with them to build quality procurement strategies aligned to business requirementsBe the voice of reason and push engineering to make sound design decisions that are conducive to a high-performing supply planDrive make vs. buy decisions for new products, implement the strategy across the product lifecycle from development, qualification, first article runs through stable productionExecute requests for information (RFIs) and requests for proposal (RFPs), document bid events through correspondence to suppliers; conduct supplier negotiations and ongoing contract managementAdminister multimillion-dollar contracts and independently negotiate suppliers’ contract terminology, pricing, technical requirements, scope, and terms involving responsibility, liability, indemnification, intellectual property, and export complianceProvide high-level oversight and support to ensure operational success in tactical procurement executionConduct director-level supply base health and performance scorecard and ensure executive support for the supply base management planBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:Advanced degree and 3+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience working in one or more of the following; or 9+ years of experience working in one or more of the following:EngineeringPurchasingContract negotiationMaterial or production planningOperations or supply chain managementMaterial cost controlMaster production schedulingPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Technical procurement, manufacturing, and vendor management experienceExperience reading datasheets, drawings, and blueprintsProven track record of leadership and team building skillsStrong vendor management experienceExperience with contract negotiationExperience in production purchasingExceptional analytical, problem solving, and organizational skillsKnowledge and skills in current technologies and applications (e.g. MS Office Suite, SQL, Access, etc.)Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skillsAbility to learn quickly and prioritize appropriately to meet customer and company needsExcellent customer service skillsAbility to learn quickly and prioritize appropriately to meet customer and company needsDetail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to respond quickly to a fast-moving and ever-changing environmentConducts all activities with the highest levels of integrityADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Must be able to travel - up to 50% work week travel may be required, including international travelMust be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed to meet major milestonesThis position is based in Cape Canaveral, FL and requires being onsite - remote work not consideredAbility to pass Air Force background check for Cape CanaveralITAR REQUIREMENTS:To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
