Job Description

Position CriteriaValid State of Iowa teaching license required.Instructional Strategist I or Instructional Strategist II: BD/LD or ID or willingness to obtain necessary endorsementPrevious classroom teaching experience preferred.Performance Criteria:Strong collaboration and communication with parents AEA teachers and support staffSuccessful experience serving students with challenging behaviorSuccessful experience working with elementary learners on the autism spectrumKnowledge of functions of behavior as they relate to developing and implementing appropriate behavior intervention plansExperience with challenging behaviors and a willingness to serve on the building response teamCPI certification or willingness to obtain CPI certificationAbility to teach in both a pull-out special education setting and collaborative general education settingAbility todirect classroom associate(s) with positive leadership skillsEvidence of strong organizational skillsActively supports and effectively communicates Waukees mission and visionDemonstrates an understanding of the elements of a Professional Learning Community and an ability to apply that understanding to a team situationSolid understanding and proven application of the Framework for Meeting the Needs of All Students and implementation of Multi-Tiered System of SupportDemonstrates implementation of research-supported instructional and balanced assessment practices supporting differentiation and integration of skills and conceptsUnderstanding and experience with the workshop and gradual release models and commitment to differentiated instructionExperience and proven ability in working with and growing diverse learnersDemonstrates willingness and desire to collaborate with instructional coaches and building and district leaders to continue to grow professionallyDesire for growth is evident through personal and professional goalsRecord of recent professional learning and knowledge of current researchProven ability to read and interpret a variety of types of data and expertise in data-driven decision-making to guide instructionUnderstanding of formative assessment and evidence of using data to adapt to individual needs of students of all ability levelsFull support and implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and SupportsFlexible highly motivated and enthusiastic about working with childrenEvidence of effective routines and procedures that lead to a positive classroom environment that promotes student achievementArticulate in oral and written communicationsProven communication with parents and familiesKnowledge of and experience with using current technology to enhance learningKnowledge of the21st Century SkillsandUniversal Constructsand experience with ubiquitous integration of those competencies and habits of mind which may or may not be linked toThe Leader in MeNOTE: This position is offered as a temporary contract through the 25/26 school yearwith the potential to transition to a permanent role based on performance and aorganizational needs.
