IMMEDIATE OPENING!!!Title: Special Education - Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) STAR TeacherReports To: Building Principal and Director of Special ServicesWork Year: 186 Days/YearSalary: Salary Schedule based on years experience and professional development plus a 7% from the based stipend for special education.Job Summary: The Star Program is a district wide program serving students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)The STAR Program teacher will implement an intensive structured teaching model. The STAR teacher is responsible for planning instruction and adaption of the general/special education curriculum to accommodate students in the learning process. The STAR teacher will function as the primary implementer for students with individualized education programs (IEPs) and oversees their compliance. It is the expectation that each duty will be performed effectively throughout the school yearJob Functions:Comply with timelines laws and regulations as it relates to district state and federal policies and procedures.Develop timely and compliant IEPs for eligible studentsPlan and implement academic instruction for students who exhibit communication socialand behavioral challenges using evidence based methods (ie Direct Instruction) andmodified curriculum materials (ie VB-MAPP) as well as general educationcurriculumPlan and implement non-academic instruction in areas such as social skills and toilet trainingMonitor and document provision of educational services for students on caseload of approximately 6-8 studentsCollaborate with all service providers general education teachers and other staff tosupport and provide documentation for the review of existing data.Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of individual students progressProvide support to general education classroom teachers as appropriateDevelop implement and evaluate the effectiveness of behavior support plans including aclassroom plan and any needed individual plans as well as carry out these plans withfidelity until they are modified by the teamUse CPI training and an understanding of the function of behavior to prevent behaviorand intervene safely and effectively including restraint when part of a written planMaintain consistent contact with parentsProvide support to staff in all areas related to emotional disturbance and behavioral disorders and interventionsParticipate in special education meetings as directed by the special education supervisorand collaborate with all staff involved with the studentsMaintain a log to document students goals and objectives accommodationsand other IEP related servicesFulfill district and state professional development requirementsSupervise and evaluate the team of paraprofessionals as well as provide professional development to that team.Facilitate team processes including problem solving and IEP development for students with special needs.
