Special Education Teacher at Great Hearts Academies

The Exceptional Student Services (Special Education) Teacher will:

●      Plan and provide specially designed instruction to students receiving special education and related services.

●      Collaborate with related service providers and general education staff in the implementation of accommodations and modifications

●      Draft and maintain IEPs, Prior Written Notices, and potentially evaluation paperwork, ensuring compliance with state and federal guidelines

●      Plan and facilitate meetings throughout the special education process

●      Communicate and collaborate with parents, staff, and administrative staff regarding student planning and progress.

●      Manage the transition of new enrollees eligible for special education and related services.

Qualifications:

●      Candidates must be proficient in the use of technology.

●      Great Hearts teachers must also demonstrate a commitment to and love for the liberal arts.

Education/Certification:

●      Candidates must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree

●      Valid Arizona certification in Special Education (mild to moderate, cross-categorical, learning disability, or intern/alternative)

●      A current Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card

Experience:

●      1 year of successful teaching experience (preferably in a K-12 school setting)

●      1 year of successful Special Education teaching experience (preferred)

●      The ideal candidate has previous experience in Special Education.
