Location: Fairfield, NJ (In-Person)
Openings:

Pre-K Special Education Teacher (Ages 3-5)
Special Education Teacher (K-6) (elementary pathway; placement aligned to experience)

Schedule: Students 8:30a-3:30p (teachers start 8:00a); Monday-Friday (school-day schedule)
Program Length Options: 10-month or 12-month (includes ESY; school operates a 210-day program including a 6-week ESY summer session)
Comp Range: $60,000-$82,000 (salary placement based on education/years)

Job Details

What You Will Be Doing

Deliver classroom instruction aligned to a structured curriculum that builds communication, socialization, attention, adaptive behavior, and independence (Pre-K or K-6 track).
Implement each student's IEP-driven therapeutic education plan, coordinating goals across classroom routines and integrated services.
Lead and coordinate classroom support staff (paras/1:1 aides), ensuring consistent implementation of strategies and student safety.
Maintain accurate student records: lesson plans, data collection, progress notes, incident/safety reporting, and required documentation.
Partner closely with families through regular communication and collaboration on carryover strategies.
Work as part of a true interdisciplinary team with on-site therapeutic supports (e.g., OT/PT/SLP and behavioral supports depending on student needs).

Skills You Need

NJ Certification: Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TOSD) with P-3 endorsement or K-6 Elementary Endorsement OR Teacher of Handicapped certification
Experience teaching students with developmental disabilities/special needs (classroom-based preferred).
Strong organization, documentation, and lesson planning skills (weekly plans and schedules).
Confident classroom leadership with paraprofessional/TA coordination.
High EQ: collaborative, compassionate, positive team mindset; strong verbal/written communication.
