Job Title: Specialist Aerospace Mechanical EngineerJob Code: 31930Job Location: Ashburn VAJob Schedule: 9/80 (Every other Friday off!)Relocation: Relocation assistance is available to qualified candidatesJob Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team dedicated to designing and developing Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). In this role you will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to design prototype and produce the next generation of unmanned aircraft. Your expertise will help transform requirements into innovative and reliable design solutions that exceed customer expectations.The Agile Development Group (ADG) specializes in developing disruptive next-generation technologies for advanced Unmanned Air Systems (UAS / UAV) advanced radar systems next-generation weapon systems and other RF sensor technologies using small company agility and big company experience. Essential Functions: Provide creative and innovative design solutions that meet product requirements for our unmanned air vehicle product linesWork closely with Aero and Electrical Engineers to collaborate on effective solutions to design challenges.Support conceptual and detail design processes by using your background in CAD design (preferably PTC Creo).Provide support to structural and thermal analysis tasks including first order hand calculations and FEA. Provide experienced-based insight to Integrated Product Team (IPT) LeadsPresent data in design review settings (e.g. PDR CDR) both internal and externalProvide strong contributions to the overall product design dialogue from inception to production. Provide hands-on support during integration activities. Strong mechanical skills are required to include experience with fabrication and assembly of mechanical systems.Provide material review board contributions by determining disposition for non-conformancesThis role requires your presence on-site. Up to 10% travel may be requiredOther duties as requiredQualifications:Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related lieu of a degree minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearancesMinimum 3 years experience in mechanical design using 3D CAD modeling and 2D drafting Professional experience with structural analysis methods Prior or current experience in aerospace design specifically aircraft flight and structurePreferred Additional Skills:Prior experience in developing UAV aircraft or space vehicle structures or subsystemsExperience with Creo highly preferredFamiliarity with a variety of manufacturing methods including machining composite lamination sheet metal fabrication injection molding and 3D printingStrong mechanical skills including experience with fabrication and integration of mechanical systems.Experience in mechanical thermal aero and/or kinematic analysis using Ansys Workbench or equivalent softwareKnowledge of electronic component integrationTechnical leadership of small teamsRequired Experience:IC Key Skills Aerospace Engineering,Clearance,Engineerig support,FAA,Fortran,Nasa,C#,C++,Matlab,Electrical Systems,Project Management,Java,Structural Analysis,CAAD,Technical Reports Employment Type : Full Time Experience: years Vacancy: 1
