Job Description
Primary Purpose:Provide speech-language pathology services to students with speech voice fluency or language disorders. Provide therapeutic intervention to eliminate or reduce problems or impairments that interfere with their students ability to derive full benefit from the educational program.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Bachelors degree in speech-language pathology or related field from an accredited college or universityValid Texas license as a speech-language therapy assistantgranted by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for Speech-Language Pathologists and AudiologistsSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of habilitation and rehabilitation of speech-language disorders and conditionsAbility to instruct and manage student behaviorExcellent organizational communication and interpersonal skillsExperience:Minimum one year of school-based speech language pathology experienceBilingual Spanish preferredMajor Responsibilities and Duties:TherapyProvide appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with speech and language goals contained in Individual Education Plans (IEP). Implement programs under the direction of supervising SLP necessary to address assistive technology needs of students.Student ManagementCreate an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity level and interests of students.Establish control and administer discipline according to the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook. AdministrationCompile maintain and file all reports records and other required documents.Comply with policies established by federal and state laws State Board of Education rule and board policy.Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment.Perform other duties as assignedWorking Conditions:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripheralsPosture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twistingMotion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reachingLifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) Moderate lifting. May be required to lift and transfer students to and from wheelchairs or assist with positioning students with physical disabilities.
