Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) Reports to: Assistant Director of Assessment & Related Services Dept/Campus: Special Services Pay Grade: Admin/Professional - PG 5Wage/Hour Status: ExemptDays: 192Primary Purpose:Plan and provide speech-language pathology services to students with speech voice or languagedisorders. Assess students and provide therapeutic intervention to eliminate or reduce problems orimpairments that interfere with their students ability to derive full benefit from the educational program.Qualifications:Education/Certification:Master s degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited college or universityValid Texas license as a speech-language pathologist granted by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR)orBachelors degreeValid Texas Education Agency speech therapy certificateSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Ability to use the accepted tests and measurements to assess communication disorders and conditionsKnowledge of evaluation habilitation and rehabilitation of speech-language disorders and conditionsAbility to instruct and manage student behaviorExcellent organizational communication and interpersonal skillsExperience:One year supervised clinical speech-language pathology experience preferred (Clinical Fellows/SLP Interns are welcome to apply)Essential Job Functions:Plan and provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with speechand language goals contained in Individual Education Plans (IEP).Evaluate student progress and determine readiness for termination of therapy services.Conduct independent evaluations to assess students with speech or language disorders andconditions to determine eligibility for services.Develop clinical management strategies or procedures and diagnostic statements by interpretingobservations or data.Participate in the Admission Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to assist in interpretationof assessment data appropriate placement and goal setting for students with communicationdisorders or conditions according to district procedures.Counsel and involve parents in remedial process.Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement classroom activities to improvecommunication skills of students.Provide professional development in assigned schools to help school personnel identify andunderstand communication deficits in students.Communicate effectively with colleagues students and parents regarding the accomplishmentof therapy goals and needs of the student.Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the maturity level and interestsof students.Establish control and administer discipline according to the Student Code of Conduct andstudent handbook.May supervise licensed speech-language pathology assistant(s) or speech aide(s).*Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of speech-language pathology services andmake changes based on the findings.Assist in the selection of equipment and instructional materials.Compile maintain and file all physical and computerized reports records and other requireddocuments.Comply with policies established by federal and state laws State Board of Education rule andboard policy.Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignmentDependable performance requires reliable and dependable attendance.Perform other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities expected for this position.Supervisory Responsibilities:May direct and monitor the work of speech-language pathology assistant(s) (SLP-A) SLP-Intern or SLP Graduate ClinicianEquipment Used:Personal or laptop computer printer copier fax machine shredder calculator and telephone electronic mobile devices projector video display monitor computer other classroom equipment.Working Conditions:Physical Demands /Mental Demands/ Environmental Factors:The working conditions described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
