Sr Analyst

This job involves independent collaboration to enhance process quality and effectiveness. The Sr Analyst works outside defined processes to determine appropriate actions for strategic initiatives, oversees team performance, and analyzes data to support decision-making. They contribute to developing best practices that improve operational efficiency while aligning with PayPal's long-term strategic goals.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Dig into the strategic questions PayPal's senior leadership cares about most - market sizing, competitive positioning, partnership opportunities, growth strategy - and develop the analysis and recommendations that drive decisions
  • Build original strategic content: business cases, competitive assessments, investment frameworks, and executive narratives that are sharp, well-reasoned, and built to persuade
  • Incubate new product and business concepts from the ground up - pressure-testing ideas, developing go-to-market hypotheses, and building the early-stage business cases that determine whether an opportunity is worth pursuing
  • Collaborate across Product, Finance, Sales, and Partnerships to take strategic initiatives from early framing all the way through to execution - including, at times, standing up net-new initiatives that didn't exist before
  • Thrive in ambiguity - structure problems that don't have an obvious shape yet, and find the right path forward even when there's no established playbook
  • Help raise the bar for how the team works by bringing strong analytical instincts and a habit of sharing frameworks and approaches that make everyone sharper

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking, with a demonstrated ability to synthesize multiple sources of information (quantitative and qualitative) to solve complex problems in a structured, data-driven way
  • Experience supporting or providing strategic advice to complex organizations
  • Ability to manage workstreams within multi-faceted projects (e.g., analysis, deliverables, stakeholder coordination)
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, prose, PowerPoint) with the ability to distill complex information for senior audiences
  • Track record of delivering high-quality work with tangible impact
  • Appetite to learn and comfort with uncertainty/ambiguity

Your day-to-day:

  • Strategic Analysis: Support the development of PayPal's Technology strategy through rigorous analysis and research
  • Project Execution: Own key workstreams within strategic projects, developing insights and actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct deep qualitative (e.g., primary research, synthesis of secondary data sources) and quantitative (e.g., Excel modeling, data analysis) work in support of strategic deliverables
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with stakeholders across the Technology organization to gather inputs, validate findings, and drive alignment
  • Thought Partnership: Contribute to the development of PayPal's position on strategic technology issues through research and analytical rigor

What do you need to bring:

  • 2-4 years of experience at a leading strategy consulting firm and/or corporate strategy team
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems required
  • Exposure to technology, with financial services (particularly payments) and/or e-commerce experience a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in Excel and data analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and deliver results in ambiguous environments
