Reach your highest potential at our stable inclusive company with diverse opportunities in a growing industry supported by people who care.Messer stands apart because we put what matters first and you matter.Principal Responsibilities:Supports the organization in achieving key outcomes in safety reliability efficiency compliance costand customer service.âSupportsgoalthat no one gets hurt with zero safety incidentsthruunderstanding of process hazards and safeguards for ASU/CO2/H2 & other withmanagement of change (MOC)process PPE requirements safe work practices and safe work systems such as hazardous work procedures and energy isolation (LOTO)process.Provides technical troubleshooting and maintenance support to all ASU CO2 H2 and Heâplants within the area for allcontrolssystems including all local DCS & PLCs business and technical networks and metering and monitoring systems.Review interpret troubleshoot and repair legacy DCS & PLC code and logic throughout the various plant locations in the area either remotely or on site on live operational processesProvide day to day plant process automation support andassistingwith execution of small improvement projects and controls changesMaintain and develop controls and measurement system documentation including IO lists Loop sheets Trip Interlock & Alarm lists PIDs Logic Diagrams Cause & Effect Diagrams Network Architecture Diagrams & Controls Narratives for all area plant locations.Reviews and approves the application of local controls and measurement system PMs work instructions and related procedures. Follows Management of Change (MOC) requirementsReview the quality and completeness of controls and measurement system PM execution at assigned plant locationsEnsure that agreed controls and measurement system maintenance strategies are fully implemented at all sites and meet intended purpose for both local and remote usersWork with the Messer Remote Operations Center to execute controls and measurement systems projects and initiativesidentifiedto drive performance and close performance gaps as well asmaintainingfleet standardization and supporting efforts required for Advanced Process Controls implementations and maintenance asrequiredEnsure that all in-sourced or out-sourced work isaccomplishedto required codes and procedures internal and external standardsIdentify define estimate develop and execute controls and measurement system turnaround maintenance activities including major software updates new IO and Loop programming network maintenance hardware replacements and upgrades and HMI changes.Provide controls and measurement system execution support to the Messer Projects Execution Team for major capital projects and new plant installations within the area.âCollaborates with the Operations Network Administrator and Information Services tomaintainand enhance the security of the Operations Network at each site within scope of up to date with computer security threats.Ensure controls and measurement systems software updates and patches are rolled outappropriatelyand licensing requirementsmaintained(PLC firmware updates DCS software version updates etc.).Ensures Condition Assessments for Plant Control systems within the Area are conducted documented and periodically current best practice age and obsolescence impacts on reliability and supportability which feed to long range strategy development for upgrades replacements sparing etc.Manage age and obsolescence plans for hardware and software of all controls networking and measurements systems (Windows platform obsolescence DCS version loss of support CPU hardware support cessation etc.).Participates in controls and measurement systems reliability efficiency I/O health check and contingency reviews and assessments andmonitorsthe completion of action plans to reduce andeliminateidentified gaps and risks.Ensure that critical controls and measurement system spare parts (CPUs cards servers etc.) are on hand and in a condition for immediate use and are replenishedin a timely manneronce consumed.Manage and provide technical support to control and measurement system contractors on major projects to ensureaccuratescopecompletion proper documentation updates and standards compliance.Work with Area instrumentation electrical and mechanical engineers as well as National Reliability control system understanding and knowledge of the roles and function of multiple disciplines in maintenance or project execution activitiesDemonstrates continuous improvement by sharing best practices employed andadoptbest practicesidentifiedby peers.Complete area controls and measurement system reviews of MOCs for completeness and consistency with technical standards as well as provide execution support for all MOCs requiring controls and measurement system changes.âEnsure and controls aspects of major cost of downtime events are investigated root cause isdetermined and that lessons learned are developed and shared throughout the AreaContribute to maintenance of Standards Chapters and PM content relating to Control systemsRequired Skills: Demonstrated exceptional operational safety leadershipIndividual contributor self-started and self-directedExcellent technical and clear communication skills with solid interpersonal skillsGeneralexpertisein instrumentation preferredStrong technical knowledge and experience with DCS PLCHMIand computer networkingrequired.Knowledge and experience with legacy and current Siemens DCS & PLCs (PCS7 S7 505/545CTi2500) as well as Wonderware & WinCC HMI platforms preferredExperience with different communication methods including Modbus RTU TCP/IP RS-232 RS-485 ProfibusExperience/familiarity with SQL database and associated connectors (OPC etc.)Knowledge and experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio software preferredProven experience reading and interpreting Piping and Instrumentation DiagramsProven understanding of regulatory and industry standards and codesAir Separation experience and knowledge a plusBasic Qualifications:Bachelors Degree in engineering required15 years of experience with at least 5 years in an operational and engineering environment.Ability to travel 30-40% (60-80 nights/year)About Messer: Messers safety culture commitment to providing dependable supply and innovative gas technology solutions help customers unlock opportunities to be safer more sustainable more productive and more efficient so their business thrives.
