Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!This role is part of Blue Origin Operations which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain Test Operations Safety Quality and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.This role is part of Blue Origins Ground Systems Engineering team supporting launch operations test facilities and ground support equipment (GSE) across all Blue Origin sites. Our team is responsible for designing implementing and maintaining the control systems that enable safe and efficient rocket testing and launch operations.We are looking for an experienced controls engineer to architect and standardize control systems across Blue Origins ground infrastructure. The ideal candidate will apply their extensive control systems expertise leadership skills and dedication to quality to develop cohesive cost-effective control architectures. You will drive standardization initiatives that reduce complexity minimize costs and improve reliability while ensuring the highest safety standards. Passion for our mission and vision is required!Respnsibilities:Lead the development of standardized control system architectures across launch facilities test stands and ground support equipmentArchitect control system solutions that reduce costs simplify maintenance and increase reliabilityDevelop technical roadmaps and implementation strategies for control system standardizationDesign and implement control system solutions for mission-critical applicationsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure integration of control systems with facility infrastructure test articles and vehicle interfacesEstablish control system standards best practices and design patternsEvaluate and select control system hardware and software platforms based on technical and business requirementsOptimize existing control systems for reliability maintainability and performanceProvide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineersSupport troubleshooting of complex control system issues during test and launch operationsQualifications:8 years experience designing and implementing industrial control systemsDemonstrated experience architecting control solutions for complex safety-critical systemsExpertise with PLC programming SCADA systems and distributed control architecturesStrong knowledge of industrial communication protocols (EtherNet/IP Profinet Modbus etc.)Experience with control system hardware platforms (Siemens Allen Bradley etc.)Proven ability to standardize and optimize control system designsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detailExcellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across teamsExperience with safety instrumented systems and functional safety standardsUnderstanding of world-class quality attention to detail and dedication to mission successDesired:B.S. degree or higher in Electrical Controls Mechatronics or other relevant engineering fieldExperience with aerospace ground systems launch facilities or test standsFamiliarity with functional safety standards (IEC 61508 IEC 61511)Experience with SCADA platforms such as Ignition WinCC Iconics or FactoryTalkKnowledge of high-speed data acquisition systems and instrumentationExperience integrating control systems with enterprise data systems and analytics platformsBackground in developing and implementing control system cybersecurity measuresExperience with real-time control system simulation and modelingExpertise in formal system requirements development and verificationExperience leading technical teams or projectsKnowledge of fluid systems pneumatics hydraulics and propellant handlingExperience with control system virtualization and containerizationAbility to develop innovative solutions to complex control problems with minimal directionExperience applying large language models in coding and testingCompensation Range for:WA applicants is $152235.00-$213127.95Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDont meet all desired requirements Studies have shown that some people are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single desired qualification.
