Sr Database Admin IIIJob LocationsUS-PA-WayneID2025-2852CategoryInformation TechnologyPosition TypeRegular Full-TimeOverviewThe Senior Database Administrator III is responsible for the health, performance, and maintenance of all MS SQL Server instances, including on-premises SQL Server instances and Azure SQL Databases. As the organization transitions toward a more Azure-native infrastructure, this role will evolve. The ideal candidate will be adaptable and proactive in embracing this shift. This role also provides Level 1 support for our Oracle databases. The Senior Database Administrator III reports to the Vice President of Data Services.ResponsibilitiesPrimary Responsibilities:MaintenanceConduct upgrades and apply patchesPerform backup & restore requests and object-level data refreshesMaintain documentation of database systems and proceduresManage and resolve ticket requestsPromote SQL objects between environmentsMaintain SQL Server linked servers and SSRS environmentManage user security in Entra/AD and SQL ServerTroubleshootingIdentify and resolve SQL Server job failuresCommunicationCollaborate with Support and Application Development teamsParticipate in walk-throughs and design sessionsUpdate ticketing systemCoordinate with Oracle support partners for cluster maintenanceUptimeMonitor production MS SQL and Oracle instances using built-in tools, Idera SQL Diagnostic Manager, and Oracle EOMProactively address issues before they impact systemsChange ControlEnforce ticketing protocols for object promotionAssist in developing and implementing change control systemsPersonal Development & Additional ResponsibilitiesStay current with industry trends and best practicesMaintain and grow relevant technical skillsPerform other duties as assigned by managementQualificationsExperience Requirements:4-7 years of experience in database administrationBachelor's degree in Computer Science preferredProficient in:Complex backup and recovery processesSQL, including PL/SQL and T-SQLDatabase performance optimizationExperience as a Microsoft Service Administrator requiredSkilled in performance tuning, backup/recovery methods, and SQL Server architectureFamiliarity with SQL Server patchingExperience with Azure SQL Database and a willingness to grow with a cloud-first strategyAbility to adapt to evolving infrastructure and contribute to modernization efforts
