Job Description

DescriptionAdminister change test and implement computer databases applying knowledge of database management systemsEnsure database availability performance security and integrity for mission-critical applicationsDevelop and execute comprehensive backup and disaster recovery strategiesMonitor database performance and proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks and inefficienciesPerform database capacity planning and scale infrastructure to meet growing business demandsImplement and maintain database security policies access controls and encryption standardsDesign and optimize database schemas indexes queries and stored proceduresLead database upgrades migrations and patch management activities with minimal downtimeEstablish and enforce database standards policies and best practicesConduct regular database health checks audits and compliance assessmentsTroubleshoot and resolve complex database issues in production environmentsCollaborate with development teams to optimize application database interactionsImplement and manage database automation tools and scriptsMentor and provide technical guidance to junior database administrators and developersEvaluate and recommend new database technologies and toolsCreate and maintain comprehensive database documentation including architecture diagrams and proceduresParticipate in on-call rotation for 24/7 database supportLead database-related projects and coordinate with cross-functional teamsFunctions as a technical expert across multiple project assignmentsMay supervise others RequirementsBachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field7 years of experience as a Database Administrator in enterprise environmentsIBM Mainframe z/OS 2.5 Database Administration experience for Production Test and Development utilizing Software AG ADABAS v8.6.1 with Predict v8.5 Data DictionaryExtensive experience with database backup and recovery strategiesStrong traditional Shell Scripting programming background (Bash/Korn/Bourne) as well as numerous well-known toolbox Commands and Utilities (including text processing grep/fgrep/egrep awk sed tr)RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) 9 System Administration (SA) experience for installing configuring and maintaining Production Test and Development environmentsExperience with database performance tuning and query optimizationProficiency in database security implementation including encryption auditing and access controlsKnowledge of disaster recovery planning and executionExperience with database monitoring toolsUnderstanding of data modeling concepts and normalization principlesTroubleshoots and identifies Root Cause Analysis in varying Production situationsExcellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiencesAbility to work independently and lead technical initiativesPreferred QualificationsMasters degree in Computer Science Information Systems or related fieldProfessional certificationsFamiliarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipeline integrationUnderstanding of compliance frameworksExperience with database migration tools and methodologiesExperience with always-on availability groups and failoverKnowledge of ETL processes and data integrationExperience mentoring teams and leading technical projects Required Experience:Senior IC Key Skills Hadoop,Microsoft Windows Server,Windows,Apache,Linux,SAN,Shell Scripting,System Administration,Administrative Experience,Scripting,Oracle,Troubleshooting Employment Type : Full-Time Experience: years Vacancy: 1
