Job DescriptionJob DescriptionSummary: The Senior Designer is a consultative and technical resource responsible for delivering high-quality, strategically aligned design services using MOI’s standard design process. With extensive experience, Senior Designers lead large and complex projects, mentor Junior Designers, and act as design leads in client interactions. They are expected to think, act, and respond like owners—modeling leadership, fostering collaboration, and elevating design excellence in line with MOI’s mission to create intelligent spaces and commitment to exceptional outcomes. Senior Designers are expected to manage a project volume target of $5M annually (dependent on benchmarks), reduce error rates through proactive planning, and build trust through confident client engagement and continuous learning. Essential Functions: Lead client meetings and collaborate with project teams to gather programming requirements and project scope.Own complex design tasks including space planning, finish selection, COM testing, renderings, presentation boards, product specifications, field verification, inventory/as-built, and installation planning.Partner with Junior Designers and Designers to manage critical deadlines on fast-paced and large-scale projects.Mentor Junior Designers through project work, team support, and ongoing professional development.Ensure quality, consistency, and integration of full design packages across all project deliverables.Model MOI’s ownership principles through proactive planning, solution-oriented communication, and commitment to excellence.Task Expectations:Independently lead client meetings, showroom tours, and design presentations.Assistclients with programming and FF&E selections with a consultative approach.Producetypicals, renderings, and budgets and generate Final Design Packages with full ownership.Coordinate project design components with clients, Sales Consultants, SDS, PMs, and supporting Designers.Mentor and provide feedback to Junior Designers through projects or department mentorship.Lead large-scale or complex projects independently or collaboratively with other Designers.Support department initiatives andassistin training efforts in alignment with MOI strategic goals.Utilize and modelproficiencyin CET, AutoCAD, CAP2020, and other key tools to ensure accuracy and efficiency.Communicate with clarity and confidence in design discussions, live sessions, and presentations.Support continuous improvement by tracking and reducing errors and championing best practices.Core Competencies: Extensive understanding of contract furniture processes and workplace strategy.Proficiencyin AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, CET, and 20-20 Worksheet.In-depth knowledge ofMillerKnolland ancillary lines and application to diverse project types.Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a high-performance environment.Strong mentoring ability and commitment to team development.Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in problem-solving.Strategic Alignment– Consistently makes decisions and takes actions that support the organization’s mission, vision, and long-term goals.Adaptability & Growth– Embraces feedback, change, and continuous learning to improve performance and outcomes.Collaboration– Builds strong working relationships by listening actively,anticipatingneeds, and supporting the success of others.Communication– Shares information clearly and respectfully, ensuring timeliness and context to promote understanding.Integrity & Trust– Demonstrates honesty, accountability, and fairness to foster confidence and belonging across the organization.Education & Experience: Graduate of a 2-4 year Design school; associate or bachelor’s degree (dependent on region).Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the contract office furniture industry or related field.Base Pay: $65,000 - $85,000 + company incentive Benefits: You will be eligible to participate in the benefit programs offered to all full-time employees working at least 30 hours per week. Travel: Occasional regional travel to our offices located in Baltimore, DC, Richmond, Charlottesville, Roanoke, and Virginia Beach.
