Federally designated as a senior military college, one of the university's signature leadership programs is its 800-member Corps of Cadets on UNG's Dahlonega Campus.Job Summary The Data Analytics Developer supports the Chief Data Officer and assists in the ongoing development, maintenance, and implementation of UNG's institutional analytic data architecture - including the Operational Data Store (ODS), Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), and related data marts and models within the UNG Nest. This role transforms raw institutional data into analytics-ready structures, supports reporting and dashboarding, ensures documentation and governance of data flows, and collaborates across the university to advance data-driven decision-making.Application review will begin in January after UNG's winter break. Therefore, while we remain committed to supporting international faculty hires, we cannot guarantee payment of any newly imposed or increased visa-related fees.If you have any questions regarding the visa policy, please contact Monica Arrendale at (706) 867-4470.Responsibilities Assists in the design, development, and implementation of institutional analytic data architecture within the UNG Nest, building upon established models and standards defined by the Office of Data Strategy.Maintains awareness of data governance, best practices in data engineering, and institutional data policies. Other duties as assigned.Develops and maintains data models (relational and dimensional) to support analytics, reporting, and dashboard consumption (e.g., Power BI, Reporting Services) under the guidance of the Chief Data Officer.Supports the continued development and maintenance of the Enterprise Data Warehouse and associated data marts, following the established vision and architecture.Implements and maintains ETL/ELT pipelines and integrations within the established data architecture, ensuring performance, reliability, and adherence to data governance standards.Collaborates with data science faculty members and student teams on special analytic projects and research initiatives, supporting cross-campus engagement in data-informed decision making.Documents data structures, transformation logic, metadata, and process flows within the UNG Nest.Ensures data quality, accuracy, consistency, security, and compliance across systems and integrations - including source systems such as Ellucian Banner.Supports data access for Power BI developers, analysts, and data scientists by creating reusable data assets and providing technical guidance.Participates in design reviews, code reviews, performance tuning, and long-term planning for the university's data infrastructure and analytics capabilities. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Advanced proficiency in SQL - writing and optimizing complex queries, stored procedures, and functions.Strong understanding of data modeling principles, schema design, and data warehouse concepts.Ability to work independently on assigned projects while collaborating effectively across functions and departments.Excellent documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills - able to translate technical work into understandable terms for non-technical stakeholders.Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 3 years of experience in data analytics, data engineering, or database development. Experience working in a Microsoft SQL Server environment: creating schemas, tables, views, indexes, and ETL/ELT processes.Preferred Qualifications Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Data Analytics/Engineering preferred.Experience with PL/SQL or other database platforms (e.g., Oracle).Prior experience in higher education, particularly with systems like Ellucian Banner or similar ERP/SIS platforms.Familiarity with Power BI model design, optimization, and performance tuning.Exposure to data science workflows, scripting languages such as Python or R, and analytic model development.Experience documenting and maintaining metadata for data models and analytics assets.Knowledge of data governance and compliance standards such as FERPA or GDPR.Proposed Salary Minimum Starting Salary: $68,051Required Documents to Attach ResumeCover letterContact information for three professional references.
