Summary Of PositionUnder general supervision of designated supervisor install maintain and repair building system equipment components including but not limited to; motors pumps bearings fan coils exhaust systems filters emergency lighting dining specific equipment grease traps etc. Responsible for providing excellent customer service and producing the highest quality of building equipment maintenance work. Senior Facilities Mechanics are expected to act as department leaders and will mentor Finish/Mechanical Technicians as assigned. Provide expertise in building equipment maintenance problem solving (including use and knowledge of the UNH continuum) in addition to providing the services knowledge and responsibilities exclusive to the broad area of building mechanical equipment maintenance. This is an overnight position. The hours of this position are Monday through Friday 11pm-7am. UNH Facilities is a 24/7/365 operation and has responsibilities related to campus safety and emergency response. Due to the nature of our business employees may be asked to flex schedules and/or respond to requests outside of normal working hours in order to meet the demands of the university. This may include early morning evening weekend and holiday work as needed.Other Minimum QualificationsHigh school education or equivalent. Valid motor vehicle operators license and DOT medical card (if applicable based on assigned vehicle weight). A combination of education certifications and work experience equal to 8 years in all aspects of building mechanics including but not limited to: diagnosing problems with mechanical drives fans motors replacement of bearings and shafts annual overhauls of pumps and motors. Preferred certifications include Electrical Safety 70E; Bearings Bearing and Shaft Seal Maintenance; Pump Installation Repair and Maintenance; and Heating System Equipment System Troubleshooting OSHA 10 certified NFPA 70E certified Knowledge of applicable codes/ordinances. Knowledge of methods tools and hazards of the trade. Ability to inspect equipment determine malfunction and make necessary repairs. Knowledge and ability to use computers tablets smart phones and software systems to perform work duties. Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job including heavy work with exposure to inclement weather conditions for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary.
