Sr Lead Product Manager at PayPal
JOB DESCRIPTION
Product Manager, Authentication
Join a team that cuts through technical, regulatory, and security complexity to deliver simple, seamless authentication experiences for users worldwide. As PM on the Authentication team, you'll own the login experience across all PayPal surfaces evolving MFA, device trust, and risk signals while reducing friction and improving global conversion. You'll bring experience in high-growth B2C products, a talent for humanizing technical interactions, and strong problem-solving skills to tackle complex regulatory and technical environments. You'll build a scalable identity strategy across geographies, devices, and operating systems, rallying cross-functional teams through influence and inspiration. Day-to-day, you'll drive product strategy, manage an architectural roadmap balancing innovation with compliance, and use data, usability studies, and market analysis to measure success. This is an individual contributor role with broad cross-functional impact.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Drives product strategy with cross-functional stakeholders consistent with the shared vision for the product or enabling platform.
- Plans and implements the architectural roadmap that balances innovative design and technical implementation, while balancing regulatory requirements, time-to-market, meeting customer needs and product profitability.
- Assesses the customer experience and customer needs in product requirements and decision making.
- Sets up data gathering mechanisms relative to the metrics that inform the success of products including usability studies, research and market analysis.
- Leads workstreams to include analytics, customer discovery, market research and competitive analysis to drive data-driven decision-making.
- Oversees product profitability measures, including budget.
- Plans operational mechanisms that drive execution and accountability including Product Reviews, Operating Reviews, and Business Reviews. Interfaces with product and technology leadership as needed.
- Partners with content strategists, data scientists, product designers and user experience researchers.
- Maximizes efficiency in a constantly evolving environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are the standard.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 8+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:
- 8+ years building consumer or B2C software, with hands-on Identity or Authentication product experience
- Familiarity with NIST 800-63, FTC, MFA, and EU SCA/PSD2 authentication standards
- Background in eCommerce, FinTech, or banking is a strong plus
- Proven track record launching and scaling high-impact, high-scale products
- Strong technical and business acumen able to balance both when making product decisions
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Sharp problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making abilities with high attention to detail
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and navigating complex, matrixed organizations
- Leads through influence and inspiration to drive alignment and outcomes across teams

The base pay for this role will depend on where you work and the relevant experience and expertise you bring. The expected range of pay for this role by location is:

Austin, Texas | ($178,500.00 - $265,100.00 Annually)
Additional Location(s) | Pay Range:
San Jose, California | ($196,500.00 - $291,500.00 Annually)
Additional compensation for this role may include an annual performance bonus, equity, or other incentive compensation, as applicable.
