Job Description

Pay Range: $100,000 - $123,000 depending on relevant experience and qualifications + bonus

MITER Brands is a residential window and door manufacturer that provides a leading portfolio of window and door brands for the new construction and replacement segments. MITER Brands, also known as Milgard, MI Windows & Doors and PGTI is one of the nation's largest suppliers of vinyl windows and patio doors, with plants across the country.

The Senior Product Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, validation, and continuous improvement of window and door products across MI's portfolio. This role ensures that products meet performance, cost, quality, and regulatory requirements while supporting manufacturing efficiency and customer satisfaction. The Senior Product Engineer collaborates cross-functionally with R&D, manufacturing, quality, marketing, and supply chain teams to drive innovation and sustain existing product lines.

Responsibilities

  • Create 3D concepts/designs of fenestration products using SolidWorks.
  • Use computer-aided drafting and design software to perform structural and thermal analysis.
  • Create and review product specifications, drawings, and bills of materials using CAD tools.
  • Provide support for manufacturing facilities related to product production and quality.
  • Collaborate with machinery manufacturers to refine product design for manufacturing.
  • Prioritize workload to ensure that deliverables are completed in timelines that meet customer expectations.
  • Maintain an individual project schedule to maximize task efficiency, prioritization, and communication.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional project teams.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert within the engineering group.
  • Support existing product lines by identifying and implementing design improvements.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for product-related issues.
  • Evaluate and implement cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality or performance.
  • Manage engineering change notifications (ECNs).
  • Drive innovations that improve product performance, manufacturability, and cost efficiency.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry standards and emerging regulations.
  • Define and oversee product testing protocols to ensure compliance with industry standards (, AAMA, ASTM).
  • Analyze test data and provide recommendations for design optimization.
  • Ensure designs meet performance requirements (structural, thermal, water/air infiltration, acoustic, etc.).
  • Work with procurement and suppliers on material selection and component development.
  • Engage with sales, marketing, and customers to understand product needs and market trends.

  • Qualifications

  • degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
  • 10+ years of experience in product engineering preferred
  • Proficient with using 3D computer-aided drafting/design software, SolidWorks experience required
  • Previous experience with SolidWorks PDM Professional is preferred
  • Strong understanding of materials, structural design, and thermal performance
  • Proven experience in product design, testing, and manufacturing support
  • Knowledge of AAMA, ASTM, and other relevant industry standards is preferred
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Strong mechanical analysis, problem-solving, concept modeling, and mathematical skills
  • Knowledge of MIWD products or other fenestration products, processes, and systems or similar business practices is a plus, but not required
  • Strong passion, high energy, and enthusiasm for growth
  • Strong time management, organizational skills, and ability to set priorities for multiple tasks
  • Ability to effectively communicate in written or verbal manners with individuals from all areas of the organization
  • Ability to work in a production environment, if required
  • Ability to self-start and work independently
  • Ability to work flexible hours and/or travel depending on the needs of the department and/or business
