Job Description
The primary purpose of the Senior Regional EHS Manager (Bilingual) is to provide leadership and direction to the assigned region of manufacturing locations support management staff and employee populations are knowledgeable and compliance in the applicable areas of Environmental Health & Safety. Reporting to the Business Unit EHS Director this position will champion projects activities to achieve location priorities and company values and is a key member of the extended corporate EHS team.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESInteract with local team from floor level to Plant Manager/install employee to General Manager and beyond when company leadership is at the siteAssess and develop local talent coaching them on techniques tools and high ethical mindset necessary to build and maintain strong EHS systemsEnsure local policies and procedures for safe work are developed implemented and followed at the assigned work location by leading location/area managers and support teams to communicate promote and practice safe operating practices/procedures to assigned site locations (California Tennessee Iowa Texas and Mexico.) Develop and implement policies and programs to ensure compliance with applicable local region and federal EHS regulations (OSHA EPA etc) for assigned locations and groupsFrequent travel in both the US and Mexico coaching and general inspection to detect existing or potential EHS hazards and determine corrective actions where indicated (<50% ) Candidate must have up to date passport and ability to travel is required.Ensures mandatory Regulatory event reporting (OSHA EPA etc) is completed on time and with highest integrity i.e. annual OSHA 300 log notification of serious accident hospitalization or deathMonitor and guide assigned plant and install/field service development of corrective actions plans to close identified gapsServes as an Internal auditor within the framework of the company internal EHS auditing systemAnalyzes and communicates EHS data trends compliance performance and permitting activity and leads BU group EHS review meetings with BU leadership team(s) EHS Corporate and other applicable higher management levels of the companyEnsures required local systems are in place for environmental permitting analytical testing and record keeping requirements to be performed as necessary and to maintain complianceAssist local leaders in developing local procedures training and leadership to ensure appropriate usage of Company Corporate EHS Management Database systems (e.g. Origami) by assigned locations and organizationsMonitors and reports to BU EHS Director and Operations Leadership on the status and effectiveness of EHS related corrective and preventive actions as observed and trackedQualifications : Bachelors degree in EHS or related Science field is highly desired. Masters Degree in EHS or related Science field is lieu of Bachelors degree >10 years experience within EHS function will be consideredWith a Bachelors degree or Masters degree a minimum 5 years experience in EHS function within a Manufacturing Facilities Management and/or Research Laboratory setting with direct responsibility for EHS activity and experience with Regulatory Agency interactions (inspections official written response arbitration etc.) Required 3 or more years experience of EHS leadership responsibilityWorking knowledge of electrical compliance and standards (NFPA 70E)Experience with DSR - Design Safety Reviews PSSR- Pre-startup Safety ReviewExperience in the development of environmental occupational safety employee health industrial hygiene and related policies that guide the companys diversified interestsWorking knowledge of EHS regulation with strong understanding of OSHA and EPA lawsStrong written and verbal communication skills and strong business acumenExperience with leadership positions and ability to manage complex operations and capitol projectsAdequately function with software programs MS Office Suite intermediate level (Excel Outlook Word PowerPoint Teams etc.). EHS Management System (such as Origami or a similar online portal)Initiate establish and cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with internal and external clients by communicating and influencing effectively at multiple levels of the organization to achieve resultsFinancial responsibilities include managing assigned operating budgets and collaboration with assigned Location/Organization leader budget/spend approvalsThis is a remote position requiring strong home internet access capabilities adequate/safe home office location and reasonable ( 1hr) access to airport with treasonable flight availabilityPosition may occasionally require moderate physical work and wearing of personal protective equipment necessary for auditing and/or risk assessment/characterization work in manufacturing operations and construction environmentsPreference for applicable EHS related professional certifications (ASP CSP IHIT CIH CHMM etc.)Bilingual in English/Spanish highly preferredAdditional Information : Why work for Cornerstone Building Brands Our teams are at the heart of our purpose to positively contribute to the communities where we live work and play.
