Job Purpose

The Staff Accountant is a key contributor within the finance team, responsible for inventory, production, and cost accounting, as well as financial reporting and analysis. This role partners closely with Production, Purchasing, and Operations, helping translate financial data into actionable insight while supporting month-end close and compliance requirements.

This position is based onsite in Maple Grove to support our manufacturing operations and gain firsthand exposure to the production environment.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Will include, but not limited to the following:

  • Perform inventory, production cost, and cost-of-sales accounting activities

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements as part of monthly, quarterly, and annual close

  • Track and analyze cost variances, freight, duties, and taxes; identify improvement opportunities

  • Calculate standard costs, labor recovery rates, and other manufacturing-related cost metrics

  • Monitor capital expenditures and support periodic fixed asset audits

  • Maintain accurate general ledger records and perform account reconciliations

  • Support internal and external audit requests, including analysis and documentation

  • Assist with tax reporting schedules and statutory requirements

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Purchasing, Production, Warehousing, Logistics, and other sites

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

  • 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and reconciliations

  • Experience with inventory, production costing, and cost-of-sales analysis

  • Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP)

  • Minimum 3 years of experience using a fully integrated ERP system

  • Working knowledge of GAAP; familiarity with IFRS preferred

  • High attention to detail and accuracy

Desirable

  • Experience with MS Navision or similar ERP systems

  • CPA (not required)

  • Exposure to foreign currency accounting and translation
