Staff Accountant

A healthcare consulting and auditing organization is seeking a Staff Accountant to perform Medicaid cost report reviews and financial audits. Conduct audits, analyze provider financials, calculate reimbursements, prepare documentation, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. This is a full-time, ongoing position with immediate start availability. Based in Atlanta, Georgia, with some travel required for on-site audits. To support accurate Medicaid and government program reporting and ensure provider compliance through detailed audit and analysis. Professional, collaborative team focused on audit excellence, data integrity, and process improvement. Salary: commensurate with experience.

The Staff Accountant performs Medicaid provider cost report reviews, conducts audits, analyzes financial data, prepares documentation, and ensures compliance with applicable government regulations, maintaining confidentiality of protected health information.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review Medicaid provider cost reports and analyze health care provider financial information.
  • Perform reimbursement calculations and prepare supporting documentation.
  • Conduct desk reviews and on-site audits including planning, fieldwork, and reporting findings.
  • Research federal and state policies to ensure billing and reimbursement compliance.
  • Prepare working papers documenting audit scope and findings according to Medicaid regulations and AICPA standards.
  • Maintain thorough electronic documentation and confidentiality of protected health information.
  • Support process improvement and additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in accounting or related field preferred.
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • Internship or equivalent accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience with healthcare auditing, data analysis, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to travel as needed based on client and business requirements.
