Position OverviewThe position provides comprehensive administrative support for the English Department, contributing to the efficient operation of daily activities. This role focuses on maintaining effective communication, assisting faculty and staff, and ensuring smooth coordination of departmental processes. Responsibilities may include general office support, handling routine tasks, and participating in projects that advance the department’s goals.a { text-decoration: none; color: #464feb;}tr th, tr td { border: 1px solid #e6e6e6;}tr th { background-color: #f5f5f5;}Job Description40%- Administrative Support Answer incoming phone calls and provide assistance or transfer to appropriate personnel.Greet and direct students and visitors to the correct offices or resources.Assist with ordering textbooks and desk copies for faculty members.Perform photocopying and scanning tasks as needed.20%- Mail and Errand Coordination Sort and distribute federal mail for the building.Sort and deliver campus mail for the department.Run errands across campus to support departmental needs.20%- Faculty & Course Support Collaborate with administrative associates on course descriptions and updates.Assist with preparing and organizing course-related materials.10% Social Media & Communication Support administrative associates with social media content and departmental communications.10% Other Duties as Assigned Complete additional tasks as requested by administrative associates to ensure smooth departmental operations.Required QualificationsExperience with Microsoft Word, as indicated in application materials.Preferred QualificationsEnglish major preferred, as indicated in application materials. Experience with social media management platforms, as indicated in application materials. Position RequirementsDuring the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).Employment Conditions(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR. (2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position.
