Youll be working with a world class team of engineers designers product managers and analysts to build great products that make a difference on one of the worlds most trafficked and loved websites.Our technology stack includes rapidly evolving GenAI models a Machine Learned Recommendation Framework JS Frontend app and JavascriptJava based back-end. The home page includes key machine learning recommendations like Recommended for you Frequently Searched by you deals and marketing placements.Our team is highly visible in the organization has a direct business impact on eBays top-line revenue and has customer impact globally. What we work on here impacts the lives of millions every day!What you will accomplish:Build and maintain eBays homepage backend engineering and translate requirements to software design and create clean efficient extensible maintainable code.Own major functional areas driving key architectural decisions and ensuring performance reliability and accessibility.Influence technical direction across domain teams and guide others toward sound architectural choices.Design and build scalable distributed and high-available systems ensuring high-performant responsive website and accessibility.Provide technical guidance code review for immediate team and other teams contribute and review ADRs (Architecture Decision Records) coaching and mentorship to individual team members within and outside teams.Lead engineering support release and triage on-call responsibilities in production for an always-on 24/7 site. Improve engineering velocity through CI/CD enhancements better tooling and process improvements.Collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver high-impact solutions.Identify system gaps propose solutions and influence the engineering roadmap.Foster a culture of learning growth and knowledge sharing across teams.What you will bring:8 years of experience with proficiency in multiple programming languages (emphasis in Java and NodeJS preferred) with deep mastery in one or two specific languages/framework.Experience in proposing and influencing technical strategy & roadmap balancing short/long term wins is preferable.Experience designing and building scalable distributed and high-available systems ensuring high-performant responsive website and accessibility.Experience taking a lead role delivering complex software systems.Plusses: GraphQL TypescriptFamiliarity with shift left approach is also a plus.The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:$132000 - $222100Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors including location skills and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits such as PTO and parental leave).
