Job Summary Perform cleaning services for University facilities following established procedures and guidelines in maintenance of buildings, classrooms, offices, lavatories and restrooms. Conduct cleaning of assigned areas, furnishings and equipment using manual tools and electrically-powered machines.Responsibilities Clean and sanitize restrooms using established practices and proceduresClean, dust, wipe, and polish furniture and building furnishings, including moving items as neededSweep, mop, vacuum, and perform specialized floor care such as stripping, buffing, and applying sealers/finishesEmpty, clean, and replace wastebaskets and trash containersWash interior and exterior windows, blinds, and clean interior walls, removing adhesives, tacks, and graffitiRemove recyclable materials from assigned areas and transport them to designated recycling dumpstersReplace light bulbs as neededAssist with setup and breakdown of facilities for meetings, classrooms, conferences, and eventsLock and unlock buildings, secure facilities, check doors and windows, and report unauthorized occupantsFollow safety instructions for chemical and supply use and assist with inventory controlRequired Qualifications Competencies and Skills:Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions or information, such as work orders and cleaning chemical labelsAble to complete basic forms and documentsAbility to train and implement usage of hand-held, precision, and power tools (i.e., brooms, mops, screwdrivers, floor buffers, leaf blowers)Correctly calculate appropriate quantity of chemicals to clean Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:High School Diploma or equivalentPreferred Qualifications Preferred Education & Experience:One (1) year of work experienceProof of valid driver's license upon hire and throughout employment.Ability to operate a University vehicleProposed Salary $15.60 hrKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities Mental Requirements:Ability to understand, remember, and communicate oral instructionsAbility to understand, remember, and communicate written instructionsAbility to follow directionsThinking analyticallyExamining/observing detailsCritical thinkingMaking decisionsAbility to write in EnglishAbility to speak EnglishAbility to deal with stress and emotionsWorking under time pressuresAdjusting to changesHandling of multiple assignments, conflicting demands or prioritiesMaintain attention to detail over an extended period of timeConcentrating, memorize, recall informationSimple math calculationsAbility to understand English Physical Effort:Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodationWork generally performed in an office environmentWorkweek may occasionally extend beyond 40 hoursTravel may be requiredMay be required to maneuver items weighing up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodationWork performed in indoor and outdoor environmentsStand, bend, walk and lift as needed throughout the dayUSG Core Values The University System of Georgia is comprised of our 26 institutions of higher education and learning, as well as the System Office.
