Job Description
We are searching for a Staff Pharmacist -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will promote pharmaceutical care by managing the medication process, identifying and preventing potential drug-related problems, and resolving actual drug-related problems. Additionally, you perform the duties of a registered pharmacist. All responsibilities will be performed in a manner developmentally appropriate for the ages of patients served (0-adult).Think you've got what it takes?Responsibilities:Ensures medications meet the highest standardsParticipates in the education of patients, caregivers, and the communitySupports patient safety systemsChecks all available means of communication including e-mail, mailbox, and voicemail every shiftEnsures the smooth running of the pharmacy and acts as a role model for technicians and other pharmacists as evidenced by lack of complaints, medication incident reports, and peer reviewMaintains investigational drug records according to departmental policyContribute to the medication management processConduct discharge medication review (difficult to obtain, prescription accuracy) and counseling, ensuring that patients/caregivers understand their medication therapies upon dischargeParticipates in study initiation, maintenance and closureAs part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or Ph.D. in Pharmacy requiredRPH certification from the state of Texas required2+ years hospital staff pharmacist experience preferred20 hours of training in compounding sterile products accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education or the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists preferredABOUT USSince 1954, Texas Children's has been leading the charge in patient care, education and research to accelerate health care for children and women around the world.
