JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Staff Pharmacist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective use of medications for our patients. You will collaborate with healthcare professionals to provide optimal patient care, manage pharmacy operations, and contribute to the overall health and wellness of the community. This is a part-time position primarily at Beekman Pharmacy in Poughquag, NY with the possibility of full-time depending on candidate's flexibility to work at a sister location, The Medicine Shoppe in Fishkill, NY.

Responsibilities

  • Dispense prescription medications accurately and efficiently while adhering to all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide patient counseling on medication usage, side effects, and interactions to ensure understanding and compliance.
  • Administer immunizations as required and educate patients on vaccine benefits.
  • Utilize pharmacy software for managing prescriptions, inventory, and patient records effectively.
  • Conduct medication therapy management and collaborate with healthcare providers in clinical pharmacy settings.
  • Monitor patient medication regimens for efficacy and safety, making recommendations as necessary.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology to provide informed care.
  • Participate in acute care initiatives and support the pharmacy team in achieving departmental goals.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Active pharmacist license in good standing with the NY state board of pharmacy.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy software systems for efficient operation management.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical pharmacy practices, including medication administration protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills with a focus on patient care and education.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Previous experience in a retail or clinical pharmacy setting is preferred but not mandatory.
