Position Title: Staff Pharmacist

FLSA Status: Exempt

Department: Pharmacy Operations

Reports To: Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC)

Dotted Line Reporting: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Employment Type: Full-Time or Part-Time

Work Location: Rx Management Partner Pharmacy / Fulfillment Operations

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The Staff Pharmacist at Rx Management is a licensed pharmacy professional responsible for the safe, accurate, compliant, and efficient execution of pharmacy operations in accordance with:

  • Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) regulations
  • Federal and state pharmacy laws
  • USP <795>, <797>, and <800> standards (as applicable)
  • HIPAA requirements
  • Internal Rx Management policies and operational standards

Working under the professional authority and supervision of the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC), the Staff Pharmacist plays a critical role in:

  • Prescription verification
  • Compounding oversight

  • Workflow execution

  • Operational efficiency

This role exercises independent professional judgment while operating within the governance framework established by the PIC and executive leadership.

PROFESSIONAL AUTHORITY & SCOPE

The Staff Pharmacist is authorized to:

  • Verify prescriptions
  • Oversee compounding verification
  • Supervise pharmacy technicians and interns within legal scope
  • Exercise professional judgment within approved SOPs and operational procedures

The Staff Pharmacist does not replace the legal authority of the Pharmacist-in-Charge and must escalate any issue that:

  • Exceeds approved scope
  • Creates patient safety risk
  • Creates regulatory concern
  • Impacts operational compliance

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Prescription Verification & Patient Safety

  • Review and verify prescriptions for legality, accuracy, and appropriateness
  • Confirm correct:
  • Patient
  • Medication
  • Strength
  • Dosage form
  • Quantity
  • Directions
  • Labeling
  • Identify and resolve medication errors, interactions, inconsistencies, or safety concerns prior to dispensing
  • Serve as final verification checkpoint prior to product release
  • Maintain professional standards for patient safety and dispensing accuracy

 

Compounding Oversight & USP Compliance

  • Verify compounded preparations in accordance with USP <795>, <797>, and <800> standards as applicable
  • Ensure adherence to approved Master Formulation Records (MFRs)
  • Verify Beyond-Use Dating (BUD) compliance
  • Confirm accuracy of:
  • Compounding documentation
  • Labeling
  • Batch records
  • Ingredient verification
  • Support hazardous drug handling procedures and PPE compliance
  • Escalate quality concerns immediately to the PIC or leadership team

 

Regulatory Compliance & Professional Practice

  • Comply with all applicable pharmacy laws and regulations
  • Adhere strictly to Rx Management SOPs and operational standards
  • Escalate compliance risks, operational deviations, or potential violations immediately
  • Support inspection and audit readiness initiatives
  • Maintain professional documentation standards at all times

 

Technician Supervision & Workflow Support

  • Provide professional supervision to pharmacy technicians and interns
  • Ensure technicians operate within legal scope of practice
  • Support workflow efficiency while maintaining compliance and quality standards
  • Assist with production flow and operational coordination
  • Support training and workforce development initiatives

 

Quality Assurance & Error Prevention

  • Identify, document, and report medication errors or near misses
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
  • Support corrective actions and retraining processes
  • Assist with CAPA and Plan of Correction (POC) implementation when necessary
  • Promote continuous operational improvement and risk reduction

 

Documentation & Record Integrity

  • Ensure all pharmacy records and verification logs remain accurate and complete
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation standards
  • Complete documentation in real-time
  • Support operational traceability and documentation integrity

 

Collaboration & Leadership Support

  • Collaborate with:
  • PIC
  • APIC
  • Training & Development
  • Operations leadership
  • Fulfillment leadership
  • Provide professional input on workflow optimization and process improvements
  • Support organizational growth and operational scaling initiatives

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Active Pharmacist license in good standing with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
  • Eligible to practice pharmacy in the State of Texas
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of pharmacist experience preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of:
  • TSBP regulations
  • USP <795>
  • USP <797>
  • USP <800>
  • HIPAA
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to exercise sound professional judgment
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Availability to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as operational needs require
