The SLR Anchorage office has a great opening for an engineer or scientist to work with experienced and recognized professionals in their field. The candidate will support projects in Alaska and gain exposure to a variety of media with excellent mentoring and growth. The role presents opportunity to advance to a field team lead and project management position. This is a full-time permanent position supporting our air quality team in emissions air quality and meteorological monitoring services. Field work and travel at all times of year will be part of this position to work directly with the field engineer.We are SLR Consulting (US) a 500 coast-to-coast team of advisory environmental/engineering and regulatory professionals. Full-time permanent role with opportunities for professional growth and advancementKey Responsibilities Accurately develop and complete tasks for air quality monitoring permitting compliance reporting and field data collection under the supervision of a Senior Project Manager Review and analyze environmental monitoring and operating data Interact with project team members to conduct field programs and prepare reports for review Provide technical understanding related to projects (i.e. regulatory framework/requirements engineering approach investigation methods etc.) Solicit work from SLR project managersRequired Education/Qualifications B.S. in atmospheric science environmental science engineering (mechanical environmental chemical) chemistry physics or equivalent scientific field Preference made to those with advanced degree Possess valid drivers license Ability to travel by airplane helicopter boat and car including overnight travel Ability to be in the field working for up to 2 consecutive weeks at a time or up to 30% of the time Good analytical organizational and multitasking skills Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and WordRequired Technical Skills/Experience 8 years of experience in air quality and/or meteorological monitoring Experience conducting PM10 PM2.5 NOx SO2 CO O3 CEMS or meteorological monitoring for regulatory purposes highly desirable Data processing and analysis Familiarity with data acquisition systems telemetry and remote field monitoring systems Ability to self-test troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical systems Experience reviewing and interpreting regulatory requirements and guidance Knowledge of industrial facility operations and safety protocols desirablePreferred Technical Skills/Experience Experience operating and maintaining air quality monitoring equipment Demonstrated familiarity with local and regional travel and shipping logistics Dangerous Goods shipping(IATA DOT) Experience solving environmental problems calculating air quality emissions and interpreting environmental regulations Attention to detail including excellent proofreading and writing skillsPersonal Attributes and Traits Self-motivated and detail oriented Curious and eager to work on varied projects Organization and planning Timeliness of deliverable and attendance Focus on quality and accuracy of deliverable Excellent time management skills Excellent verbal/written communication skills Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team Ability to support team members and step up at a moments notice Proactive in planning ahead and problem solving.Physical DemandsThe following describe regular performance activities and demands that must be met by an employee to successfully perform job responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
