As a member of the PD team you will be a driving force of innovation and helping build the future of electric vehicle charging.The Staff Thermal Design Engineer will play an integral role in architecting, modeling, validating and optimizing system thermal design. In this role you will employ a balance of simulation along with hands-on testing to deliver optimal solutions in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate should be able to lead the cross-functional thermal design of products from concept to mass production.What You Will Bring to ChargePointGuiding system architecture through accurate system thermal modelsLeading system designs as they relate to thermal solutionsWorking cross-functionally to iterate and optimize thermal performance to meet system requirementsBalancing system needs to achieve maximum thermal performance within constraints (volumetric, acoustic, power dissipation, safety)Designing and leading thermal testing (TTV)Validating and optimizing system design through data collection and analysisRequirementsBS in Mechanical Engineering or related field10 or more years of experience in thermal designExperience in heat pipes, vapor chambers, liquid coolingHighly proficient in CFD analysis with 5 years or more of experiencePerform thermal verification testing and optimization Design of Experiments at each phase of the projectExcellent communication and presentation skills to convey key resultsDesired SkillsThe ideal candidate would also have design experience in the following areas:MS or PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering with emphasis in Thermal Design, Heat Transfer, or Fluid DynamicsExperience designing and optimizing cold platesCAD proficiency (we use Siemens NX)Manufacturing and assembly experienceLocationCampbell, CAChargePoint is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The targeted US salary range for roles at this operating level is $160,000 to $210,000. This range represents base salary and does not reflect equity, benefits or variable pay where applicable.
