Position Summary:

The Steel Fitter/Fabricator is responsible for assembling and fitting steel components in accordance with project specifications, blueprints and safety standards. This role requires precision, knowledge of welding/fitting techniques and the ability to work collaboratively in a fabrication shop environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications for steel assemblies.
• Verify dimensions, tolerances and alignment of components.
• Fit, assemble and install steel components, including beams, columns and other steel fabrications.
• Work closely with welders and other team members to ensure proper assembly.
• Follow all safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
• Use hoisting, lifting and material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
• Collaborate with project supervisor to resolve fitting or alignment issues.
• Report any defects, deviations or safety hazards promptly.

Qualifications:

• Experience as a steel fitter or similar role in the fabrication industry.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of hand tools, power tools and fitting equipment.
• Basic welding knowledge is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail and precision in measurements and fitting.
• Physical stamina.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Must be punctual and possess a strong work ethic.

Work Environment:

• Fabrication shop.
• Requires use of PPE and adherence to company safety guidelines.
• Requires standing, lifting and moving steel components regularly.
• May involve overtime, weekend work or project-specific schedules.
