St. Marys Catholic SchoolSTEM Lab TeacherMinisterial CharacterThe pastor and the principal are the visible foundation of the school which the Bishop has entrusted to the pastor and principal. Together with the pastor the principal makes Christs mission present and enduring in the order to fulfill this mission the principal employs suitable chosen collaborators. The principal shares with them Christs mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them.Positions employed in the school help to extend the ministry of the pastor and the principal in particular ways as outlined in the job description. Therefore the employee in this position is closely connected to and assists the pastor and the principal in the performance of their ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the Church.Job Summary: Responsibilities and DutiesA STEM lab teacher is responsible for developing and implementing hands-on curriculum managing lab equipment and facilitating student-led projects that integrate science technology engineering and math. Key responsibilities also involve teaching students critical thinking and problem-solving skills integrating technology like robotics and coding and assessing student progress through practical applications.All Faculty and Staff members at St. Marys Catholic school must:Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the schoolAct as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic ChurchSupport and adhere to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Diocese.Maintains a work schedule that maximizes availability to the school students and staffCommunicates effectively with those in the school communityCollaborates with peers to enhance the work environment and support organizational planningDemonstrates professionalism in conduct demeanor and work habitsServes as a professional representative of the principal and schoolIn addition the following tasks are part of the instruction and planning for a classroom teacher:Curriculum and instruction:Develop and implement STEM curricula that align with school standards.Design and deliver hands-on lessons and lab activities.Integrate technology such as coding platforms robotics and educational apps.Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.Student engagement and assessment:Foster critical thinking problem-solving creativity and collaboration.Encourage a growth mindset and perseverance through experimentation.Facilitate student participation in STEM-related events clubs or competitions.Assess student progress through projects assignments and other evaluations.Lab and resource management:Manage maintain and organize lab equipment and materials.Ensure proper setup and accessibility of the lab environment.Supervise students while they conduct experiments and use equipment.Collaboration and communication:Collaborate with other teachers to create interdisciplinary projects.Engage with parents and the community to promote STEM education.Participate in professional development to stay current with STEM education trends.Position RequirementsKnowledge Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic ChurchKnowledge of use of various forms of technology and office equipment and programsAble to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formSkill in critical thinking and planningAbility to honor and maintain confidentialityAbility to multitask; be flexible and capable of handling a variety of on-going projects at the same timeSelf starter and takes initiative with limited supervisionAbility to work collaboratively with othersStrong administrative and organizational skillsProfessional demeanor and appearanceSolid working knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Word Excel Access Outlook PowerPoint Publisher and Google calendarComputer savvy with Database systems; primarily to become familiar with School Data System softwareDemonstrate reliability punctuality and personal integrity.
