We have earned state and national recognition for safety quality and patient experience and are a Level III trauma center.Orientation/TrainingNew team membersare required tocomplete a Sterile Processing educational training course. The first6 weeksof this 90-day course are mandatory 1st shift 0700-1530 Monday-Friday. Once the course is completed the teammemberwill transition to their hired shift times for theremainderof orientation.Scope of workSterile Processing professionalsare responsible forcleaning decontaminating sterilizing and distributing medical and surgical instrumentation. They are among the most vital contributors to the delivery of safe high-quality patient care. Work performed in the Sterile Processing department usually follows a processing >Inspect>Assembly>Package>Sterilize>Inspect>Store>Inspect >Dispense. After use items that can be reprocessed are returned to the decontamination area to start the process all over again it is important to note that at each step in the process items are inspected to ensure that they are clean in good repair assembled and processed correctly. Sterile Processing Techs are also involved in the record keeping and tracking process across manydifferent functionsof their jobs. They must provide properly processed products whenthey are needed.
