Sterile Processing Technician at Pride Health

We are seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician II to support surgical services by ensuring the proper decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, storage, and distribution of surgical instruments and medical equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of sterile processing standards, infection prevention practices, instrument tracking systems, and surgical case preparation. This role requires excellent attention to detail, technical proficiency, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform decontamination, cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of surgical instruments, endoscopes, power equipment, and specialty devices.
• Inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instrument trays according to established guidelines and count sheets.
• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot sterilization and cleaning equipment.
• Conduct quality control testing and maintain accurate sterilization records and documentation.
• Utilize instrument tracking systems to document processing activities and inventory movement.
• Prepare and dispatch surgical case carts based on operating room schedules and preference cards.
• Identify, inspect, and replace damaged or missing instruments as needed.
• Maintain compliance with infection control standards, OSHA regulations, and departmental policies.
• Transport, store, and distribute sterile supplies and equipment throughout the facility.
• Assist with inventory management, stocking supplies, and supporting daily sterile processing operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Current CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) Certification.
• Minimum one (1) to two (2) years of Sterile Processing experience.
• Experience with surgical instrument decontamination, assembly, packaging, and sterilization.
• Experience using instrument tracking systems and preparing surgical case carts.
• Experience working with specialty surgical instruments and equipment.
• BLS required from AHA

Important Details:

• 8-week contract position (extensions available)
• Shift is 7.5-hour day (Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:00 3M), 37.5 hrs/week
• Location is New York, NY 10003
• Pay Range for Locals: $38 - $42 per hour
• Pay Range for Travelers: $1,700 - $1,750 per week
