Stihl/Power Equipment TechnicianEmployment Type: Full Time or Part TimeSupervisor: Store ManagerJob DescriptionWill be responsible for all seasonal lawn and garden equipment service and warranty work. Stihl-Certified is highly desired but will train. This position requires some nights and rotating weekends as well as ability to lift up to 70 lbs. The Stihl/Power Equipment Technician is responsible for performing general sales duties in their assigned department but also assisting in other areas of the store as needed. They display a helpful friendly attitude towards all customers to make Theisens the Best of the Best in our industry. This involves greeting and assisting customers helping them to determine correct merchandise for their needs and explaining benefits and features of merchandise. They may also perform general upkeep of the facility and may assist on cash registers.Qualifications3-12 months retail experience preferredSthil Silver/Gold Certifications or the ability to attain in 30/60 dayVocational or work experience in small engine repair preferred18 years of age due to OSHA requirementsKey ResponsibilitiesProvide excellent customer service by having a strong understanding of products and services to address customer questions.Responsible for seasonal lawn and garden equipment service and warrantyApproach customers storewide ask if assistance is needed and take them to the location of merchandiseExplain benefits and features of merchandise to customers and suggest add-on merchandiseMaintain general knowledge of all products may need to have expertise in specific product areasCompute price quotes order merchandise from order catalog provide customers with business card (name and contact information) and follow up on customer special ordersAssist in product assembly per manufacture instructions of all power equipment and other items as directedReviewing after the sale warranty and safety features to customers; ensuring these are explained and recordedProcess product registration after the saleProcess and record manufacture warranty claims and paymentsAnswer telephone and customer questions within established guidelinesPractice and maintain security measuresCommunicate out-of-stocks using hot sheet/new item requestsUtilize radio in a professional manner to seek assistance if neededAssist customers with check out and carryouts as well as loading and unloading of itemsMaintain accuracy of shelf tagging arrange merchandise by shelf label and set up merchandise displaysReceive merchandise shipments and check them against receiving reportsRemove merchandise from packaging match items with stock numbers and price and tag merchandiseRestock shelves and displays; assemble products as neededChecking and verifying fluid levels of gas-powered items before product leaves the storeProcess Interstore transfersCleaning duties which include but arent limited to: facing merchandise dusting shelves/displays and merchandise sweeping and vacuuming cleaning windows and emptying trashMaintain cleanliness and merchandising that meets or exceeds the Theisens Brand requirementsOther tasks as requested by management may include but are not limited to: checking desk/mail box preparing and participating in physical inventory unloading warehouse delivery trucks delivering merchandise to customers and running cash registersRequired Knowledge Skills and AbilitiesTo perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Occasional physical demands include lifting over 50 lbs. climbing stairs squatting and firmly grasping. The associate is required to talk and hear. Must be able to work required shifts including nights and weekends and maintain attendance standards. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision adequate for the incumbent to perform the responsibilities and functions of the job efficiently. The associate must have the manual dexterity to manually operate and use a computer/cash register and/or RF.Work Environment and Working ConditionsWork will normally be performed inside of the store facility; however some work may occasionally be performed outside in conditions ranging from cold below 32 degrees to heat above 100 degrees. The work environment is usually fast paced with regular deadlines and sales expectations. Extreme noise and vibrations may occasionally be experienced. Associates may be subjected to hazards such as burns cuts electrical explosive and mechanical. Due to the nature of the work associates may be exposed atmospheric conditions such as dust fumes odors and poor ventilation.
