This role is vital in supporting the procurement delivery and inventory of essential veterinary and medical supplies that keep our operations running smoothly.What Youll DoManage procurement tasks: Assist with ordering inventory and non-inventory items process purchasing documents and ensure compliance with university policies.Handle deliveries and receiving: Verify packages using tracking systems unload freight trucks operate forklifts and coordinate vehicle use for pickups and drop-offs.Fulfill customer orders: Prepare and distribute sensitive medical supplies maintain stock rotation and supervise student workers as needed.Maintain inventory systems: Conduct audits reconcile receivables and ensure accurate records in university systems.Collaborate with others: Work closely with vendors faculty staff and students to maintain excellent relationships and service.Position DetailsLocation: Patterson Hall College of Veterinary Medicine Ames IAEmployment Type: Full-time on-site continuous rolePhysical Requirements: Ability to lift and move heavy materials; operate forklifts and other material handling equipmentAbout the College of Veterinary MedicineIowa State Universitys College of Veterinary Medicine is a leader in animal health education and research. Counts grades weighs meters and sorts incoming items and supplies. Marks with identifying codes sorts and stores supplies in proper location according to prescribed methods for convenient removal. Takes items from stock to fill requisition and issues equipment and supplies to students faculty or staff as requested with proper authority. Initiates orders and supplies as needed; delivers and picks up supplies and materials to location as required. Assembles or mixes materials solutions and equipment stored in accordance with specific instructions. Maintains records on issuances periodically takes physical count of stock on hand and prepares reports as necessary. Drives loads and unloads a delivery truck periodically. Operates equipment such as dollies carts handling and transporting supplies and equipment. Maintains stockroom in clean and orderly manner.Knowledge Skills and Abilities Knowledge of storeroom methods and procedures. Knowledge of proper lifting and bending techniques. Ability to interpret and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to keep basic receiving shipping and inventory records. Ability to perform basic arithmetic functions involving addition subtraction multiplication and division. Ability to work with computerized inventory control systems.
