We are seeking a skilled Structural Steel Fabricator responsible for assembling, fitting, welding, and preparing structural steel components according to detailed shop drawings and engineering specifications. This role plays a key part in producing beams, columns, stairs, railings, and structural assemblies used in construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Fabricate structural steel components including beams, columns, stairs, and railings
- Fit-up and assemble steel parts using bolting and welding techniques
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication plans
- Perform layout, measurement, cutting, and assembly of steel materials
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment
- Assist with welding operations as required (MIG, Stick, or similar)
- Move materials using overhead cranes and forklifts safely
- Prime and prepare finished steel products for shipment
- Load completed materials onto trucks for delivery
- Ensure all work meets quality and dimensional standards
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Qualifications
- Previous experience in structural steel fabrication or metal fabrication preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Basic welding knowledge and fabrication skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience with measuring tools and fabrication equipment
Preferred Certifications
- Forklift Operator Certification
- Overhead Crane Certification
- Welding certifications (AWS or equivalent)
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Safety Certification
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50+ lbs regularly
- Standing, bending, and working in a shop environment
- Comfortable working around industrial equipment and machinery
