Job DescriptionJob DescriptionHUTCO, INC.Position: Structural Welder – Pulse ArcJob Location: Newport NewsHutco Branch: Portsmouth VA Rate of Pay: $45 per hour (perdiem Available for those who qualify)Work Schedule: 40 hours/week – All ShiftsSecurity Clearance: Not RequiredPosition OverviewWe are seeking highly skilled Structural Welders (Pulse Arc certified) for long-term shipyard work in Newport News, VA. Candidates must have extensive experience with multi-pass welding processes and the ability to pass all position weld tests without training.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesPerform all-position fillet and butt welds using:SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding)GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding)FCAW (Flux Core Arc Welding)GMAW-P (Pulse Arc Welding)Use oxygen/propane heating torchesAir carbon arc gougingFollow OSHA safety protocols for confined spaces, fall protection, and PPE useWork in demanding physical environments (e.g., shipboard, confined spaces, heights, staging)Required Experience & SkillsMinimum 4 years of structural welding experience at NNS or naval shipyardsSkilled in:All-position welds: 2G, 3G, 4G with SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW-PUsing fillet and butt weld gaugesAir Carbon Arc GougingMust pass:Visual Inspection of Welds Level IWelders Vision TestCarbon Arc Gouging ProficiencyMandatory: Pass weld qualification tests on-site at Newport News Welding SchoolMandatory Safety Training & QualificationsLeased Labor Provider must supply proof of completion/documentation for:Confined Space Training – OSHA 29 CFR 1915Hazard Communication – OSHA 29CFR 1915.1200Respirator Fit Test & Medical Clearance (MSA Comfo Classic only)Fall Protection – 4-D Body Harness, Lifelines, Beam Clamps (ANSI Z359.1 compliant)Audiometric Testing & Hexavalent Chromium ClearanceCoveralls – Flame Resistant with long sleevesWelding Shield Leather Bib and Full JacketRequired PPE (Provided by Supplier)White Hard Hat (with company name and worker’s last name)ANSI Z87 Safety Glasses with side shields8” steel-toe safety boots or leather shoes with spatsBilsom Leightning L1N Muff-Style Hearing ProtectionMSA Comfo Classic RespiratorFlame-resistant coveralls and full welding jacketWelding shield leather bibSpecial Requirement✅ All candidates must pass the Pulse Arc weld test before assignment.❗ No training provided prior to testing — must be test-ready.BenefitsHutco Inc. offers limited benefit coverage through Essential Staff Care.The hotel is advanced for the first two weeks (loan).Available plans include:Medical / PrescriptionDentalVisionShort-Term DisabilityTerm LifeAccidental Death & DismembermentTo ApplyCONTACT HUTCO TODAY!????
