Job Summary This is a student assistant position with flexible hours (Will work an average of 19 hours per week). Employee in this position is responsible for the assistance and supervision of Resident Assistants within the residence hall at Middle Georgia State University.Responsibilities Developing relationships with Academic Affairs and Student Success.Assist and supervise the Resident Assistants (RA) within the residence hall.Assist resident Assistants (RA¿s) and Resident Life Coordinators (RLC¿s) in community development and programmatic efforts.Create a caring environment conducive to academic pursuits and to the personal development of students.Assist with the enforcement of university regulations and maintenance of order and discipline in the resident halls.Promote a secure environment within the residence hall.Performs other related duties.Required Qualifications Must be a currently enrolled student at Middle Georgia State UniversityMust be enrolled in at least 6 credit hoursMaintain at least a 2.0 cumulative GPAExperience in working with residential students required.Ability to establish and maintain rapport with students, faculty and staff.Be organized and detail-oriented with a strong work ethicAbility to focus in a fast-paced work environmentDemonstrated understanding and value of campus culture and communityAble to work independently as neededPreferred Qualifications Currently live in the residence halls or have lived in the residence halls Middle Georgia State UniversityPrevious customer service experienceBe a team-playerPresent self in a positive and professional mannerKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities Skills in critical thinking and problem solvingSkills in effective communication skillsKnowledge of event/program planningKnowledge of budget management principlesSkill in the training and supervision of the personnelSkill in decision making and problem solvingSkill in building interpersonal relationships with residentsSkill in oral and written communication.
