Invested in education with highly rated city and county K-12 systems, both city and county public school graduation rates are 90% and above and rank among the top in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.Job Summary Student employees for West Georgia Outdoors are responsible for assisting with the Climbing Wall and Rental Center operations. Employees are expected to provide excellent customer service, maintain safety standards, and help foster a welcoming and engaging environment for all patrons. Position Duties and Expectations Climbing Wall Duties (50%) Supervising Operations Oversee the climbing wall during assigned shifts, ensuring safety protocols are followed by patrons participating in climbing, belaying, and bouldering activities. Shift Duties Perform opening, operating, and closing procedures for the climbing wall facility. Customer Service Greet and interact with patrons professionally and courteously, assisting with climbing-related inquiries and concerns. Facility Maintenance Clean and maintain the climbing wall facility daily, with additional upkeep completed weekly, monthly, and annually. Policy Enforcement Enforce all University of West Georgia Climbing Wall policies to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment. Rental Center Duties (50%) Equipment Check-Out and Check-In Assist patrons with checking out and returning rental equipment. Maintain accurate inventory records. Equipment Inspections Conduct routine inspections of rental equipment to ensure safety and quality standards are met. Equipment Knowledge Gain in-depth knowledge of site-specific activities, appropriate equipment usage, and the differences between gear options. Instructional Skills Develop the ability to instruct patrons on proper equipment operation and improve personal teaching methods. Equipment Repair and EducationBuild expertise in repairing, maintaining, and educating others on the use of rental equipment.Required Qualifications Must be a currently enrolled University of West Georgia student enrolled for six credit hours and maintaining at least a 2.0 cumulative grade-point average.Interest in rock wall climbing, outdoor activities, and/or equipment handling. Availability to work flexible shifts, including evenings.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.CPR/AED certification is required or must be obtained within 3 months of hiring. Physical Requirements/Working ConditionsEndurance: Stamina to work shifts that may involve repetitive physical activities, including cleaning, organizing, and assisting patrons. Flexibility: Ability to bend, squat, and reach for equipment Weather Tolerance: Comfort with occasional outdoor tasksRequired Documents to Attach ResumeKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities Time Management: Ability to balance multiple responsibilities during shifts and prioritize tasks effectively. Problem-Solving: Quick thinking to address unexpected issues, such as equipment malfunctions or policy violations. Physical Fitness: Sufficient strength and endurance to handle the physical demands of climbing wall supervision and equipment handling. Teamwork and Collaboration: Strong ability to work cohesively with other staff members to ensure smooth operations.
