Together, let's make a positive impact and empower the next generation of leaders.Job Summary The Facilities Department oversees a range of vital campus-wide services, ensuring the functionality, safety, and efficiency of the campus environment. The department maintains physical spaces and provides services that support the institution and its community.We are seeking highly motivated and responsible students to serve as Facilities Student Assistants. In this role, students act as the first point of contact for the department, managing incoming calls and service requests, and coordinating with maintenance staff to ensure efficient service delivery. Alongside administrative responsibilities, student assistants must be able to perform routine physical tasks, which may include assisting with minor maintenance duties or traversing campus to support service needs. The position requires strong communication skills, organizational ability, and a commitment to customer service, as well as proficiency in basic computer applications and a willingness to learn facilities-specific software systems.Responsibilities Answer and respond to inbound calls and emails in a timely and professional manner Gather detailed information from customers regarding work orders by phone and/or email communications Log, track, and update work orders manually or in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Maintain a working knowledge of the facilities work order process and departmental procedures Provide excellent customer service, offering a spirit of assistance to all customers by phone, email, or in person Coordinate with maintenance staff to ensure requests are dispatched and addressed efficiently Occasionally support maintenance staff with minor tasks and traverse campus to deliver assistance as needed Perform related work and special projects as requiredRequired Qualifications Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Georgia Gwinnett College Must be in good academic standing and maintain good standing for the duration of employment Must be in good standing with Georgia Gwinnett College and maintain good standing for the duration of employment Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with excellent verbal and written abilities and professional phone/email etiquette to serve a GGC's community courteously Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize effectively, multitask, and maintain accuracy and attention to detail Ability to work productively both independently and as part of a team Basic knowledge of Windows environment, Microsoft Office applications, and web browsers, with the capacity to learn Facilities procedures and work order systems Must be able to stand, squat, reach, walk across campus, and lift items as needed Reliability, punctuality, and adaptability to changing departmental needsPreferred Qualifications Prior customer service or call center experience Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or other work order tracking software Experience working in facilities, operations, or a related service environment Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment Knowledge of campus layout and facilities to assist with dispatching and coordinationUSG Core Values The University System of Georgia is comprised of our 26 institutions of higher education and learning as well as the System Office.
