Reports to: Director of Exceptional Student EducationFLSA Status: ExemptGeneral Definition of WorkUnder the direction of the Director of Exceptional Student Education the job of a Compliance Specialist involves performing a variety of tasks monitoring the successful implementation of district initiatives and programs developing and updating district compliance procedures for the provision of special education services. The position is to assist with district and state program compliance and instructional leadership to ensure district compliance with state procedures and federal law regarding the referral identification IEP development placement and services provided to students in Exceptional Student Education.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Utilization of some resources from other work units is often required to perform the jobs functions.Education and ExperienceMasters degree in job related Minimum 5 years experience in field.Certificates & LicensesHighly Qualified status and South Carolina certification in appropriate Special Education area required with a strong GPA in relevant courseworkSpecial RequirementsMust have and maintain a valid Drivers License or ability to provide own transportationMay be required to travel to school district buildings and professional meetingsPrior to beginning employment negative tb test results must be providedPhysical Requirements/Working ConditionsWork requires the occasional exertion of up to ten pounds of forceWork regularly requires exchange of accurate and detailed information through oral and written communicationConstantly operates a computer and other office business equipmentAbility to remain in stationary position for required meetings/workAbility to move to other work locationsVisual acuity requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work and observing general surroundings and activitiesHearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communicationsWork requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data operating standard office equipment and the use of advanced technologyWork is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office light traffic)Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructionsMust be adaptable to performing under mild to high levels of stressMust be on-call as a regular part of the jobApplication Requirements Applicants must submit official transcripts three professional references with at least one supervisory reference and a copy of the appropriate credentials as part of the application process.Pre-Onboarding and Employment Requirements As a condition of employment and prior to onboarding the district will conduct a criminal history background check. The recommended candidate will be required to provide personal information necessary to complete the background check such as date of birth gender and race to remain in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
