The Substance Use Prevention Program Health Educator leads the planning coordination and implementation of community-level environmental strategies that reduce substance misuse and related risk behaviors within Salt Lake County. This position works collaboratively with local coalitions government partners schools law enforcement businesses and community organizations to create sustainable policies systems and environmental change. The Health Educator applies prevention science data-driven decision making and inclusive community-informed approaches to improve population health outcomes. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSBachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Health Education Health Science Public Health Early Childhood Education Community Health or Behavioral Science and Health with an emphasis in Health Education; OR an equivalent combination of related education and experience.Due to the nature of this position the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.A valid Drivers License accepted by the State of Utah is required at the time of hire. Some weekend and evening work may be required due to program needs.The ideal candidate must have strong skills in data interpretation strategic planning organization and project management skills. Must be able to demonstrate excellent communication facilitation interpersonal skills and a strong ability to build relationships with diverse partners and navigate complex community systems.IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS POSITIONTime-limited Appointed employees will perform work for a specified amount of time dependent on agency funding.
