TemporaryDescriptionEmployment Status: TemporaryFLSA Status: Non-Exempt/HourlyReports to: PrincipalSummary:A substitute teacher is responsible for enabling each child to pursue his or her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of his or her regular teacher. A substitute teacher is responsible for carrying out the lesson plans of the regular teacher and meeting the duties of teaching as outlines in the policies of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio.Position Responsibilities:Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the schoolActs as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic ChurchSupports and adheres to the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees and policies and procedures of the school and ArchdioceseMaintains confidentiality regarding school mattersProvide instructional reinforcement for individual students or small groups of studentsSupervise students in the cafeteria schoolyard specials hallways on field trips and/or during before and after school programsAttend to students physical personal academic and emotional needsPerform other duties as directed by the classroom teacher and school administrationUses approved corrective and positive discipline procedures in dealing with inappropriate student conductCollaborates with school personnel to enhance the work environment and support academic programmingAdheres to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and takes precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self others.Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information services rendered to clients donors names and gifts internal and external investigations or results of any investigations and financial information.Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory.Every employee is required to take a solution-oriented approach in their interactions and undertakings as well as being a team member that promotes collaboration and commitment to the Mission and Vision of the organization.Performs other duties as assigned.RequirementsMinimum Qualifications:EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredBachelors degree preferredExperienceMinimum of 1 year of experience in substituting or teaching experience preferredLicense and CredentialsReliable transportationValid driver licenseValid vehicle insuranceMust pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screeningMinimum Knowledge and Skills:Attend to students physical personal academic and emotional needsProvide instructional reinforcement for individual students or small groups of studentGeneral supervision of the classMust be detail oriented organized self-motivated work well independently and on a team;Must have good written and verbal skills;Must have good critical thinking and problem solving skills.This is not necessarily an exhaustive list of all responsibilities skills duties or working conditions associated with the job.
