We are offering a great opportunity for a full time SUD Peer Recovery Specialist for our Prevention and Recovery Department.ResponsibilitiesServes as an active member of the SUD team that provides holistic treatment to consumers. Provide peer support services to consumers with substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders in a manner that is healthy for the consumer to regain or maintain independence within the community and mastery over their own recovery process. Serve as a role model to consumers by exhibiting competency in personal recovery through the use of coping skills; function as a consumer advocate and educate consumers about available behavioral health services. Provide such supports in both an inpatient and outpatient setting.Required Education and ExperienceHigh school degree of general education diploma (GED). At least one (1) year Certified and Registered Peer Recovery Specialist with the Virginia Department of Health Professions.At least 12 consecutive months of sustained recovery from addiction.One (1) year position related lived experience as a consumer of mental health and/or substance abuse services.Valid Driver’s License with a point balance of -6 or higher.Preferred Education and ExperienceTwo (2) years Certified and Registered Peer Recovery Specialist with the Virginia Department of Health Professions.Three (3) years position related lived experience as a consumer of mental health and/or substance abuse services.Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge and skills in dealing with persons with substance abuse disorders; to perform work tasks in a harmonious and effective manner and to be able to balance personal recovery with aspects of the delivering services to other consumers.May be required to travel within the Greater Reach CSB catchment area.Fingerprints, State and FBI criminal record reports, drug test, and central registry report will be required upon selection.
