With more than 7000 employee-owners Austin Industries provides nearly every type of civil commercial and industrial construction services through the expertise of our operating companies: Austin Bridge & Road Austin Commercial and Austin Industrial.Austin Bridge & Road seeking an experienced Superintendent I - Bridge Structures to lead and manage large-scale heavy civil construction projects. This role involves overseeing multiple scopes of work subcontracting and leading concrete crews of 2050 workers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in substructure and superstructure construction deep knowledge of TxDOT specifications and proven leadership in planning and execution.Responsibilities:Manage all scopes of work including subcontracting and concrete crew leadershipCoordinate manpower and equipment for crews of 2050 workersDevelop and implement long-term planning strategiesCommunicate effectively with engineering and project management teamsEnsure compliance with safety standards and take ownership of safety initiativesReview project documents submittals and schedules to assess materials manpower and equipment needsPlan jobsite layout security office trailers and utility setups with the project managerDesignate areas for cranes hoists material storage and parkingSupervise field engineers in initial site survey and layout ensuring accuracy before foundationwork beginsInspect ongoing field work for quality and uniformity addressing deficiencies promptlyAssist project manager in schedule cost evaluations and labor projections adjusting plans as needed to maintain timelineMonitor equipment use and costs assisting in the development of equipment projection chartsSchedule and manage governmental inspections for certificate of occupancyMaintain strong relationships with owners architects consultants and other stakeholders resolving issues through direct negotiationFoster training and development of subordinates through on-the-job and external learning opportunitiesLead career planning merit increases and promotions for project staffOversee project close-out tasks including punch lists and as-built documentsQualifications:Experience: 710 years in heavy civil construction or related fieldProven experience in building substructure and superstructureStrong knowledge of TxDOT specifications and inspection processesAbility to coordinate manpower and equipment efficientlyKnowledge of local subcontractor market in TexasUnderstanding of production rates and sequencing of workDesign-Build experience is a huge plusNo degree required; hands-on experience is essentialRequirements:High School Diploma/GED or higherValid drivers licenseRequires working outdoors at times in the rain or snow and during cold warm and hot temperaturesMust be able to work on call as neededApplicants must be legally authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States.
