Job DescriptionJoin UChicago Medicine as a Central Sterile Processing Supervisor.The Cental Sterile Processing Supervisor is responsible for maintaining departmental operation in the Central Sterile work area. This responsibility includes preparation of work schedules job assignments special requests and performing related duties as addition assure the organization and cleanliness and environmental compliance of decontamination sterilization and storage areas. Will be proficient in available technology i.e. SPM inventory management system. We be required to use independent judgment in the discharge of their duties.Essential Job FunctionsSupervises staff assembling and processing of instrument sets trays case carts and the use of major pieces of equipment.Has authority to direct and communicate assignments for tasks to be performed in all areas of CSP responsibility.Organizes activities according to priorities established by OR schedule.Reviews and evaluates daily work flow and adjusts staffing pattern according to the needs of the department. Advises management of potential staffing problems and/or issues.Ensures that all parameters of sterilization are met including but not limited to: steam ETO Hydrogen Peroxide and Parasitic Acid and maintain permanent records of these modalities as required by regulatory agencies.Assures that equipment/instrumentation is functioning before use; reports any problems or malfunctions to appropriate persons and initiates work orders or requisition to resolve identified problems. Responsible for shut off of equipment when appropriate.Performs regular audits of instruments trays and case carts for accuracy. Provides documentation of the audits.Performs other duties assigned.Required QualificationsHigh school graduate or equivalent required.Thorough knowledge of OR instrumentation with medical terminology and operating room process required.Previous leadership experience required.Must possess knowledge of all modalities of sterilization.Be able to act as resource to all subordinate staff as well as customer population.Basic computer knowledge required.Preferred QualificationsAssociate or Bachelor degree preferred.RN LPN or OR Tech with OR experience preferred.Case Cart and inventory experience a plus.Experience in dealing with employees covered under bargaining unit contracts highly preferred.5 years as a CS technician preferredCertification for Central Service Technician preferred upon hire.
