Guiding the end‑to‑end kitting lifecycle from interpreting bills of material to ensuring that every part and component arrives in the hands of our shop mechanics exactly when they need it. You will be the strategic force behind how materials flow through the facility, ensuring our machine work stays on schedule and our programs stay on track.This is a high‑visibility role that blends operational leadership, supply chain planning, and cross‑functional collaboration. You will partner closely with engineering, program teams, purchasing, sourcing, legal, and finance to build a kitting structure that is efficient, compliant, and scalable.What you’ll do:Lead Kitting Operations & Team Leadership: Direct the daily execution of the kitting team, ensuring accurate work order review, kit assignment, and timely delivery to the shop floor.Project & Build Planning: Translate program requirements into actionable kitting plans that support complex builds and evolving project timelines.Supply Chain Alignment: Work with purchasing and sourcing teams to ensure materials are procured cost‑effectively and delivered in alignment with demand.Process Optimization: Monitor key performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements that enhance speed, accuracy, and scalability.Stakeholder & Supplier Engagement: Strengthen relationships across internal teams and external partners to support smooth operations and proactive issue resolution.Why This Role Matters:As our supply chain grows in both volume and complexity, the Kitting Strategy Lead becomes a critical driver of operational excellence. Your work ensures that mechanics and engineers can focus on machine work; your attention to detail safeguards compliance and quality, and your strategic mindset helps shape the future of how we build, test, and deliver.What skills you will have:Supply Chain Management - MFG: Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and use strategies, practices and tools for controlling the logistical processes.Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP): Knowledge of the processes, practices and systems used in manufacturing requirements planning (MRP); ability to optimize planning for manufacturing cycles and ensure capacity and materials availability.Logistics Management: Knowledge of logistics and management; ability to follow proper processes and run operations for effective and efficient movement of materials and finished products.Supplier Management- MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.Process Improvement: Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods and ability to maintain focus on the continuous improvement of processes, products and services.Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.Top Candidates will also have:A strong ability to simplify complex problems into clear, actionable solutionsProven experience coordinating across multiple teams, priorities, and workstreamsHigh attention to detail with a disciplined, process‑driven approachA continuous‑improvement mindset, with a focus on enhancing systems and ways of workingAn understanding of how supply chain decisions impact downstream functions and the broader organizationAdditional InformationPrimary Work Location: Tucson Proving Ground – Green Valley, AZ, with full‑time on‑site work required at a Caterpillar facility.Schedule: 9/80 work schedule, providing an extra day off every other week—equivalent to 26 additional days off per year to support work‑life balance.Relocation: Relocation assistance is not available.Sponsorship: Visa sponsorship, international assignments, and payroll transfers are not available for this role.Summary Pay Range:$89,210.00 - $133,810.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
