Surgery Scheduler (Temporary Contract) at Randstad USA
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Surgery Scheduler for a 16-week temporary assignment. This role is critical to the optimization of perioperative services, with a primary focus on managing operating room (OR) block utilization. You will serve as a key link between physician offices and the surgical department, ensuring that OR time is used efficiently to maximize case volume and patient care delivery.
Location: 100% Remote (Supporting Berkeley, CA facility)
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 08:00 AM – 05:00 PM (5x8 Hour Shifts)
Duration: 16-Week Project-Based Contract
Compensation: $25.42/hr
Key Responsibilities
- OR Utilization Optimization: Monitor scheduling patterns and manage block utilization workflows to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Block Management: Identify and release unused block time, reallocating availability to other surgical teams to capture additional case volume.
- Provider Coordination: Act as a primary point of contact for physicians and medical office staff to coordinate surgical cases and resolve scheduling conflicts.
- Data Monitoring: Analyze scheduling trends and provide recommendations for improvements in OR capacity alignment.
- Strategic Communication: Maintain consistent, professional communication with all stakeholders to support proactive scheduling adjustments in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- Experience: 1+ years of direct experience in surgical scheduling or a perioperative services environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Proven experience with operating room scheduling and block utilization workflows.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to coordinate effectively with diverse medical staff.
- Soft Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to adapt to changing clinical needs.
- Operational Skills: Proficiency in coordinating multiple priorities and monitoring complex scheduling patterns.
Preferred Qualifications
- Clinical Setting: Prior experience in a hospital-based perioperative or surgical services department.
- Systems: Experience with EMR platforms or specialized OR scheduling systems.
- Analytical Ability: Familiarity with block scheduling optimization strategies and the ability to analyze scheduling trends.
- Collaborative Background: Experience working directly with physician offices or surgical coordinators.
- Contract Experience: Prior experience in temporary or project-based healthcare roles is a plus.
Work Environment
This is a non-lead, project-based role that requires a high degree of autonomy and accuracy. While the role is remote, it supports a high-volume surgical center and requires strict adherence to the 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM PST schedule to ensure alignment with active surgical blocks and office hours.
