Also transports positions patients on table and covers them with sterile surgical drapes.Scrubs hands and arms puts on sterile operating room attire to be able to work within the sterile field established around the patient and to handle the sterilized instruments equipment and supplies used in the procedure.Anticipates the needs of the surgeon passing instruments and providing sterile items in an efficient manner.Helps prepare care for and dispose of specimens taken for laboratory analysis holds retractors cuts sutures and applies dressings as directed.Cleans and restocks the operating room.Adheres to The Joint Commission (TJC) on professional standards and attends hospital in-service training sessions as directed. Provides age-appropriate care for all age groups.Non-Essential Functions1. Position serves both internal co-workers and external customers clients patients contractors and vendors.2. Access to and/or works with sensitive and/or confidential information.3. Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g. HIPAA). Skilled in the application of policies and procedures. Knowledge of Business Office Standards and Recommended Practices.4. Perform other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Education: High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred; Surgical technologists graduate from surgical technology program (**Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education/certification.**)License:Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) required one month from hire dateRequired SkillsRequires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
