Job DescriptionJob DescriptionDescription:The J offers American Red Cross group swim lessons for children age 6 months and up. We offer classes for the beginner to the experienced swimmer who may be working on stroke proficiency and endurance. We also offer private swim lessons for all ages and abilities.Schedule: Currently need Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 10am-12pm. Swim Instructors have flexible schedules and have teaching opportunities weekdays, weekends and evenings.BenefitsFree individual membership to The JFlexible scheduleEssential FunctionsProvides quality instruction to individuals and small groups as assignedTeaches skill-based instruction as outlined by the American Red CrossMaintains accurate attendance and performance recordsFollows and enforces all safety guidelines, policies and procedures of The J and the Aquatics DepartmentRequirements:Must be at least 16 years oldAble to communicate effectively with children and parentsAble to provide excellent customer servicePrevious competitive swimming, teaching or coaching experience a plusWe will train new employees to teach private, custom swim lessonsPhysical RequirementsRequires constant talking and hearing to communicate instructions with students, constant repetitive motions and eye/hand/foot coordination to demonstrate strokes as well as frequent standing. Will occasionally walk, lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs., climb ladders in and out of pool, and stoop/crouch. This position also involves exposure to outdoor weather conditions depending on the season, and varying pool temperatures. Good vision to surveil assigned zones and identify patrons in need of assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
